From advertisements appearing in recent iuuea of the lecol papers it would- oppear that this concern which is u wholly owned subsidiary of one of the largest American pecking houses hos recently enabled the Livestock Marketing lourd to- pay above our price for hogs-but this price is only being paid in Prince Ed- ward Island. This some plant has apparently for some time paid only $21 per cwt. DELIVERED PLANT for Nova Sculls and New lrunawlck Ilu s. It is a fulr infer- ence that the price presently being paid Io Prince Edward Is end producers II not due to "effective marketing" but rotIlev due to tIla determination of this other plant to try to gain c controlling position with respect to Island Ilogl regardless of price. Previous to the time this Firm come under new ownership the prevailing tendency was for local Hogs to be bought on the basis of_Moncton prices leaa freight and Moncton prices in general to be Montreal prices less freight and commission, whereas today we feel sofa in taking credit for the prices being con- siderably cbove Montreal level.
