SAINT JOHN. N.B., Apt-l] 7_. A special meeting of the New Brunswick Baseball Association will be held hcre May 7, it was attributi- red tonight by Joseph McGrath, jiresidcnt of the association. De- tails concerning the lay-laws will be gone into fully, and inserted in the constitution at the annual meeting to be held at a later date.

As 30 days are required before these by-laws can be‘ put into effect. Mr. McGrath ordered the secretary to have the list of changes prepared by April 3 in order that all clubs would re- ceive their copies nu iaicr than April 'l_ The fnll executive is ex- pected to attend the meeting as well as representatives of the var- ious clubs in the province.

Secretary H. J. Osborne. Saint John, said seven scnhvr clubs in the province have not yet submit- ted the percentage of their home games to go itlto the association's funds.‘ Percentages of several in- termediate clubs also have not been received. If the money or cheques are slot. received before lite .'inntial titccting, these clubs will have no powcr lo vole in the yearly eie tion of officers, he said.

The president has been notifzcd of these outstanding debts. If clubs can give any good reason why these percentages should not be paid, it. was slated, the execu- ljvc bf the association will take the matter up at the May 7 meet- ing. Ii: is understood that some of the intermediate clubs made little or no money in the playoffs and ran irtio debt.

C. A. LcBiatic, first vice-presi- dent of the association. has been given personal charge of the clubs in the Moncton district, where he resides, to ascertain the standing of the clubs and their playoff re- ceipts. And another matter that is bound to add interest to the base- ball activities is the fact that the new modern Victoria Park Ath- letlc Field. now in the process of‘ construction is expected to be ready by mid-summer.

When completed this field, made possible through the Department of Physical Fitness under the dir- ection of Bill Reid, will be one of thq best in Eastern Canada. Com- iblning a quarter mile, cinder track. baseball and softball dia- monds. a football gridiron, jump- ing pits, clubhouse, ete., it will provide athletic minded youngsters with an up-to-data place for their training and will also add much interest among sports followers.

Installation of an artificial ice plant in the Charlottetown Curl- ing Club was decided upon by members at the annual closing banquet held last night in the Winchester Banquet Hall during vrhich presentation of chub tro- phies w-as nude to the winning skips of the rinks competing in the Wright and Sentner Trophies competitions. during the past sca- son. Decision to install the artificial plant was met with whole-heart- ed approval. -Tenders will be called for the necessary prelim- inary work and installation in the near future with the approx- imate cost of the plant bciltg set at close to $28,000, providing no lower tenders are received fro-m other companies interested.

Bowling League Banquet Held At Summerside

One of the most successful get- togcthcrs of the season was held lust nlg-ht in St. Patti's Hail, Sum- merside, when the members of the ladies’ and gentleman's bowl- ing league assembled for the ban- quet which marked the end of the season. The large auditorium ‘was fliidd to capacity when about two hundred lltcntbers of the league partook of the splendid repsst served by the ladies of The C.W.L. Mr. Harold E. Gaudet. manager of the Capital Bowling Alleys cnpably presided and wci- coined the captains and members 0f the various teams.

Mr. Gaudet in his opening ra- marks- complimented all the members for the marvellous dis- play of sportsmanship that pre- vailed throughout the etitirc sca- son. Some mistakes had been made but Mr. Gaudet believed that the league had learned a lot from these errors and when the fall season roiled around the icague would be bigger and better than ever. The speaker believed that in the Summcrside league there. were players second to none in the Maritime Provinces and looked forward to the day witch there vrouid br- Maritime playoffs in bowling just as there is in hockey and other sports.
