The second trial of Wm. Sheehan, for the murder of the Moshers (sister and, brother), near Castletown, County Cork, in 1877, resulted in the conviction of the prisoner, who was sentenced to be hanged on the 20th of January.

The Floods. WILKESBARRIRF, Pa., Dec. 19. Men were busily engaged in the attempt to rescue the imprisoned miners at Nanti- coke. The offvials state that there are 24 men in the mine. There is little ground for hope that they will be rescued alive.

Bestructive Typhoon San Francisco, Dec. 19. Advices from Yokohama and Hong Kong to-day, siate that a typhoon swept over the Phillipine Islands Nov. 7th, destroying over 4,400 buildings, 18 lives were lost,and 500 head of cattle perished.
