Bid Farewell To U.C. Pastor At St. Peters Bay
The people of the St. Peter’s ‘ Bay Pastoral Charge, compris- ' ing Marie, Greenwich and St. Peter’s, gathered in the United Chuch Hall, St. Peter‘s, on Wed- : " nesday evening, July 2nd, to bid a sad farewell to Rev. and Mrs. Anthony Ware, who came from __ England eleven months ago, to »- serve in this congregation. The hall was filled to capacity, many being unable to gain admittance.
The chairman, Mr. Wendall Coffin, Morell, called on Mr. Jackson, who read an an ’pr-opritate address to Mr. and Mrs Ware. Gifts of a well filled purse and a beautiful tri-light were made by Mr. Leith Sanderson, Greenwich. Presentations w e r e also made to Mrs. Ware from

The 30th annual convention of Women’s Institutes of the Three Rivers District was held in the United Church Hall, Montague, on June 19th., with the Montague Women’s Institute as hostess.

Mr. and Ms. Ware replied gra- ciously thanking the people for much kindness during their short stay in this charge, and spoke feelingly of the harmonious rela- tions between pastor and people.
A hearty sing song was follow- ed by retreslnnents. The singing of “God Be With You Till We Meet Again”, and the benedic- tion by the beloved pastor closed the evening. »4 _

Mrs. Lorne Wigginton presided and the meeting opeed with the singing of the Island Hynm and the recitation of the Mary Stew- art Collect tor Clubwomen.
The address of welcome was given by Mrs. A. D. MacLure, Montague, and the response was made by Mrs. Ralph Gordon, Rosenealth.
The minutes of the last conven- tion were read by the secretary, Mrs. Keir Clark, Montague, fol- lowed by roll call and the read- ing of reports from the Institutes The reports were interesting and showed an active year working for home and country.
The financial report was read by the' secretary, showing a bal- ance of,$11.97 on hand.
Mrs. David Muteh, representing the provincial executive, address- ed the She urged the continued support of the Institutes to music and drama festivals and rural beautification, and also to- wards the Institute News and Federated News. She stressed the importance of having well plann- ed programs in order to have in- teresting and instructive meetings and reminded the members of the various Tweedsmuir competi- tions, such as “words and musici for a national Institute song and conununity histories and essays
on teaching children good citizne- ship.
. Miss'l'heresa MacLeod, super- visor, spoke briefly. She asked the members to study Canadian food rules, and to plan meals at home carefully in order to pro- mote good health for their flam- She asked the Institutes to continue to support the handicratt exhibition at Old Home Week. Each Institutes is asked to pro- vide an article suitable for sale at the exhibition.
An amusing reading was given by Mrs. Bert Laird, Lorne Valley who also presided as pianist for a' hearty sing song led by Mrs. Mutch
Miss Jean Gil-Us gave an in- teresting and informative address on preserving food by freening, which was much appreciated by the ladies.
The supervisor then announced the winners in the apron contest, a provincial executive project, and prizes were presented to Mrs. Emery MlacNeill, Montague, Mrs. Lorne Wiggington, Montague, and Mrs. Schirmer, Lower Montague.
A' very interesting fieature of the convention was an excellent display of antiques in linen and china by the Lower Montague
institute. -
Charles Kennedy, New Perth, of the resolu- tions presented the following resolution:
“Wh eas the members and friends of the Three Rivers Clon- vention have today enjoyed the hospitality of the Montague Wo- men’s Institute, and whereas we have been pleasantly and profit- ably entertained by the infamou- tive addresses determined by the several speakers, therefore be it resolved that we extend our sin- cere thanks to one and all who have contributed to the success of this convention."
