The stallion race was billed to start at one o'clock; but owing to difficulty in getting competent judves, the start was delayed an hour. Attwo o'clock Mr. John Davies, of the ‘‘Rankin,’ Mr. Stephen McNeill, of Summerside, and Mr, Patrick Reid were ap- pointed judges. They immediately rang up the stallions entered, as follows :

Mr. N. Lea’s by. s. ‘All Right,’

Mr. Robt. Fitzsimmons’ by. s. ‘Dean Swift.’

The horses, as they drove into position, presented a nodle appearance. Seldom do we see three animals with better style, shape and gait on a race course. And each horse had his admirers. Charlottetonians, naturally, sounded the praises of ‘Messenger Boy’; and Summerside men did not fail to speak a word of encouragement to ‘ All Right’; while New Londvuners in a body were ready to stake the last farthing on ‘Dean Swift’-—we should say for second place.

First Heat.— After much difficulty in bring- ing .the horses together, the word ‘‘zo”’ was given and the trio dashed off abreast. ‘Mes- senger took the poll with little difficulty at the first turn, and began to show day- light between himself and ‘All Right.’ At the quarter mile he lead ‘All Right’ by three lengths. and ‘Dean Swift’ by six. They all trotted splendilly, and kept the above-men- tioned positions—with a 7 increase in ‘Messenger’s’ lead—to the half mile. Here ‘All right’ went off his feet; ‘Dean Swift’ came close on his quarter, and threatened to

ve him the go-by; but ‘All Right’ does not Ce any by a break, and when he settled to work ayain he wasa length ahead of ‘Doan Swift.’ ‘Messenger,’ in the meantime, forged ahead considerably. At the three-quarter he could not be any less than fifty yards in front, andthe shout of ‘‘He will distance them,’’ was heard from all parts of the park. ‘All Right’ galloped down the homestretch, as it were, to save distance, sand he and ‘Dean Swift’ had only passed the distance about twenty yards when the distance signal was hoisted. The heat was given to ‘Messenger Boy,’ ‘All Right’ second, and ‘Dean Swift” third.

Second Heat.--All went off together—‘All Right’ running with a view of taking the poll. ‘Messenger’ was equal to him in that respect, and in answer toa sharp stroke of the whip, sprung to the front and led ‘All Kight’ by

Swift’ at .the latter's quarter, trotting finely. At the half mile the heat was well in ‘Messenger’s’ hands. Here ‘Dean Swift’ showei some fine bursts of

He ‘collared ‘All Right,’ and both neck and neck, pursued ‘Messenger’ up the back stretch. At the three-quarter ‘Mes- senger’ led by several lengths. ‘Dean’ fell to the rear of ‘All Right,’ and in this posi- tion they continued to the finish—‘Mes- senger’ passing the wire about ten lengths ahead. Hewasawarded first place, ‘Dean’ second for fair trotting, and ‘All-Right’ third.

Third Heat.-—-~‘Messenger’ led from the word “go,” and trotted the whole course apparently at leisure in front of his opponents. One would think*he merely got out of their way in order to give them a clear course to fight for second position. ‘Dean’ showed himself to be very gritty in this contest, and had second position at the half mile. Both galloped up thei back stretch, and ‘All Right’ relieved him of the second place at the third quarter. ‘Dean’ then fell several lengths to the rear, and they kept this position on the home- atretch to the finish. ‘Messenger Boy’ took the heat and race, ‘All Right’ second, and ‘Dean Swift’ third.

The three-minute class race did not fill, and the next called by the judges was a green race, for which there were seven entries. It was won by Mr. Edward Pen- dergast’s bay gelding, ‘Fred,’ with Charles Lock’s ‘Prince’ second, and Fred. Davis’ ‘Lady Carleton’ third. There were five eutries for the running race. It was won by Robert Damel’s ‘Molly,’ with John Durant s ‘Snow Bird’ second, and Joseph Noonan’s ‘Jenay Lind’ third.

On the whole, the day’s racing was very successful, and must have been very profit- able to Mr. Haslam, the owner of the Park.

Several mien were run over on the track, and a number of collisions between car- riages occurred. Mr. Charles Binns, of this city, was badly hurt, having been run over by a horse attached to a sulkey.
