NOURISHMENT FOR THE INVALID,— Port wiue jelly is very nourishing and refreshing for an invalid. Put one ounce or one package of gelatine and an equa! quantity ef white sugar in about a gill of cold water; let this heat gradualiy and stand on the back of the stove until the gelatine is entirely dissolved :then take it from the tireand add one pint of port wine; strain through a fianel jelly bag. When cold it will be found to be of the right consistence.

The English ship—ya'ds are full of orders end ure now turning out an amount of tonnage. The demand is said to be chiefly on speculative account and as a result the supply is in excess of the demand and the shipping busi- ness is overcrowded,

The prospectus of the Halifax Steam Navigation Company (limited) has been issued. The company has been formed for the purpose of establishing direct steam communication with Great Bri- tain toand from Halifax, via St. John. The capital is placed at $300,000. Ic is proposed to rua two steamers, with at least one monthly departure from each end of the iine.

The little kingdom of Denmark is going in for prohibition with a high hacd. A scheme has been brought forward for the compulsory closing of all breweries, ale heuses, and brandy shops, as well as for prohibiting the importation and sale of all forms of intoxicating liquors. The irony of the proposal is found in the fact that the sweeping measures contemplated are not to come into operation until 1894. The Danes do not evidently believe in “swearing off” suddeniy. They are willing that their children shall be sober, provided that they themselves can drink like their fathers. Perhaps their children will think the same.

And also all thatother tract, piece and parcel of land situate, lying and being on Lot Num ber four, aforesaid bounded and described as follows, that is to say :—Commencing at a square post fixed on the south side of the Kildare Ferry Road at the distance of twelve chains and sixteen links along the various courses of said road eastwardly from the centre of West Lake Bridge; thence according to the magnetic meridian of the year 1764, running south sixteen degrees fi!teen minutes, east eighteen chains to the North Shore of Gordon Creek; thence following the various courses of said shore southeastwardly a dis- tance equal to thirty-eight chains. south sixty- three degrees east or until it meets the south- west boundary of land sold to Josiah Grant ; thence north twenty-six degrees forty-five minutes west forty-three chains to said road ; thence following the various courses of the said Ferry Road westwardly on or about eighteen chains and fifty links to the place of commencement, containing tifty acres of land, a little more or less, and 13 known as the McLeod farm. ‘lhe said last three tracts of land containing respectively four acres, one rood and. thirty-four perches, fifry-niue acres, and fifty acres being held by the said Insolvent Banking Company under and by Virtue of a certain Indenture of. Mortgage bearing date the’T'wentieth day of November, A D.,, 1878, and made between the said Honorable James College Pope aud Eliza Dalrymple Pope his wife of the one part, and the Pre.ident Directors and Company of the said Insolvent Banking Company of the other part, aad now due and unsatistied, and under and by Virtue of the Power of Sale in said Mortgage contained, the said Liquidators will sell the same in manner, and at the time and place aforesaid together or in parcels, as per conditions of sale.
