Island horses predominated in the winning ways for the meet to capture firsts in all four of the events run off. Jean Henley of the Victoria Driving club captured the class A Pace. Robert Baldwin, also of the Victoria Driving Club, took top honors in the Class _B Pace. while Ma.ry‘s Delight. owned by Wilfred Praught of Cherry Valley. walked off with the Class 0 Pace.

The day was ideal for racing and the track was in excellent condition, while with the starting gate in use to facilitate good starts. the meet came up with some really close finishes that kept excitement high all through the program. In the first heat of the Champion- ship Trot. Les Brewer of the Vlc- torla Driving Club. came through with the fastest time for the quar- ter in the first two days racing, with a. mark of 29 4-5 seconds.

The final program of the three- day meeting will be held this af- ternoon at 1:30 when six classes. including the Championship Pace, will get underway. when it is ex- pected that some of the fastest and closest racing of the meet will be witnessed. There will be a. total of 26 entries competing in today's events.

But hopes waned a bit last night when the aggressive saint Mary's squad tagged them with a. solid 'l-1 drubbing at Amherst last night which didn't look much like their close 3-1 victory two nights before, to take a. two-game lead in the series.

This may. or may not be, the case tonight when local fans turn out to see the two squads in ac- tion as the Amherst boys will be a determined outfit when they hit the ice tonight. to get back into the running. and may come through with the win they need to stay in the fight. They have beaten Halifax before this season. and it may be that way this eve- ning. In any case, ‘fans should see plenty of action and smart hockey whichever team wins. Charlotte- lown's Bert Steele will be perform- ing on the Halifax roster. and that in itself should add plenty of in- terest in the game for local hockey enthusiasts.

It was the first time this season that the Vics haven't gone down to defeat in six league starts, and gives them one point in the final standing. The tie for the Kensing- ton boys increased their second place position by one point. but spoils their chances of ending up in a. league leadership tie with tile Abbies. The Vics outshot their oppon- ents 2-0 in the first period, but the Kensington squad rallied back strong in the second to reverse the scoring and deadlock the score at 2-2 going into the final frame. and contimling the pressure in the last session, chalked up two in a. row for a two-goal advantage. The Vics finished strong, however. to cut the lead down to one goal at the halfway mark. and came through with the equalizing tally with only 52 seconds left to play.

A Bernard was the leading goal- gotter for Kemlnglor. with two to his credit, while A. Champion and 3. Champion got one each for the other two goals.
