Prcmicr Smallwood crcatcd a bit of a stir licre when he announced at New Year's that Icelandic fish- ermen had been imported to teach modem methods of fishing. He also announced that the Govern- ment is Investigating the possib- ilities of sheep-raising here along tho lines in vogue in Iceland.

. ‘The monthly meeting of the Georgetown Community Welfare Lcague was hold in the Council Chambers on iiifondaix Jan. 2, with the president. Mr. F. J. Soloman occupying the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting we're read liy secretary Cullen DcLory and moved adopted. Treasurer Howard S. lilacLe-an presented the financial report which was also moved adopted. This report showed that the League's contribution to the new rink and recreational centre in cash. lumber and labour amount- ed to $4135.99.

Chairman of the entertainment committee Mr. Raymond Lavandier rte/ported that 33 Christmas baskets had been given out to the aged and the shutins. Letters from various firms and individuals who gave donations to the Buildinl Fund of the nciv rink and recrea- tional centre were read by the secretary.

A general and lengthy discussion of the plans for the official open- iriz of the new rink and recrca~ tional centre took place and a committee- wili meet the Town Council in finalize the arrange- ments for the (inching night. As there was no further biuiness the mceting adjourned.
