The younger Sark. who is 18. years old enrolled at Saint Mtiry'sl University High School in the fall. of 1948. Like his brother he: showed A lot of natural ability on, the football field and he played on the Senior ls-am for three years. In winter he played has- ketball with the Saint Mary's juvenile squad and last year they won the Nova Scolia champion- ship. Thcy inter advanced to the Dominion juvenile final: but how- cd out against a strong team from St. Catherine's. - .

In addition to basketball and football. Sark played an active part in track and field competi- tions. He won medals at the Acadia Relays held at VVolfvillc. N. S., and at the Halifax County School track and field meet. While on his holidays last sum- mer he competed with the Abe:.:- weit Junior trnck team in Char- lottetown. These achievements were cited by it Saint Mary's pub- lication in announcing the award of the Trophy to the Island boy.

Neither team had many good scoring opportunities during the first two periods. The Islanders big line of Buck Whltlock. Pawlshyn and Gray was kept off the score sheet by the excellent checking of the Blrukow. brand and Morrow unit.

The game started with a battle between rival coaches Murph Cliamb:-,r1ain and Johnny Horeck. Each one shifted his lines several times and held play up for a good minute as Horeck attempted to get his "Peanuts Line" pitted against the Whitlock trio.

Ronnie I-lurst put the Islanders ahead 2-1 at the six minute mark of the final period. Ronnie came roaring in from the wing to sink Hub Beaudry's pass-out from be- hind the net. Gary Gordon. who carried the puck across the blue- line and into the corner drew an assist on the play.

The tempo spceded up following Hurst's goal and fans saw the best hockey of the contest for the next five minutes, Lyle Wiseman clim- axed the action by scoring on a 15 foot. backhaiider after taking the puck out of a scramble in the corner.

Re-Shufflcs Linea

At this point Johnny I-loreck re- shuffled his lines. sending Eddy Marineau up front and the move paid off. At the 13 minute mark Marineau golfed a pass to Rowe in front of the Islanders net, The latter knocked the puck to the ice and beat All Millar from four feet out.

Pidsodny in the Sydney cage had 29 stops with his best saves coni- ing off Whitlock, Beaudry and Brlzlacich. Beaudry broke through in the opening seconds of the sec- ond perlod and Brklacicli drilled a low slap shot that almost caught the corner in the same session.

Al Millar of the Islanders had 17 saves with the toughest drives coming off the sticks of Johnny Morrow and Bill Mcnonagh.

Few Penalties

The Millionaires drew a team penalty in the first period for playing with a man too many on the ice. The sentence was served by Johnny Morrow. In all there were only six peiialtles with three going to each team.

Dunc Maclntyre and Eddy Mar- lneau played strong games for the Millionaires. Up front I-loreck us- ed the Robertson, McDonagh, Rowe string extensively for at.- tacking purposes.

Lyle Wiseman with two goals was the big gun for the Islanders. Marcel Clements turned in a. very strong performance on left wing while the defense, led by Lavell, came up with a. solid effort.
