In New Albany, Indiana, Nov. 18, Sergeant Ed ward Pasco, aged 30 years, of the 2d Minnesota Volunteers, serving in the army of the West, of disease contracted m the untiring and faithful dis charge of his military duty. Deeply regretted by his companions in arms, and mourned by sorrowing relatives, he has left an unsallied reputation as a friend and soldier. He was formerly of Rustico in this Island.

Suddenly, at St. Eleanors, a few days since, Mr. Robt. Lank, saddler, formerly of Halitax.

At Princetown Royalty, on the 27th ultimo, Mr. John MeGougan, aged 590 vears.

qT the request of the Liberal Party in 4% Charlottetown and Royalty, I have consented to have myself put in nomination as a candidate for the representation of your City at the next Election. Those who have been kind enough to give me this proof of their coutidenee and esteem belong to the various sects of the Christian Church in this com- munity — Episcopalians, Ronan Catholics, Wes leyans, Presbyterians, Bible Christians, &c., and their nomination of an humble individual like my- self shews clearly that their choice is the result of political opinion more than that of religious feeling ; while it affords at the same time a gratifying proof that there isa large body of intelligent and indepen- dent Protestauts of neurly all denominations who connot or will not be deterred from co-operating with their Catholic fellow Colonists for the attain nent of good ebjects, that will redound to the ad vantage of the whole Colony, apart from denomina tional interests. My political principles are so well known to you that I consider it unneeessary to refer to them par ticularly. Perwit me, however, to say, that should you do me the honour of giving me u place in the Assembly, my votes shall be ulways recorded to advance the beat interests of the Island—to promote tranquility and prosperity—and to resist eucroach- ments from any quarter that might tend to lessen the civil or religious rights of any class in tie com- munity.

He ap- pears to enjoy the contidence of the Liberal Elec- tors of the District. It is well known to you, that my political bias has been MO PEATE CONSERYATISM. Pe these principles [ stil! adhere. But it is my firm conviction that the strong political views of both the Conservative and Liberal Parties have exceeded all proper bounds. In the perpetuation of this strife, no per- manent advantage can be obtained by either party, and in the mean time the brightest hopes for the wrosperity of the Island are enveloped in gloom. The best friends of both parties are pleading for a cessution of this deadly strugale. t will be for you, Gentlemen, to sey at the coming Election, whether you are prepared to enderse these sent ments ! Personally, L have no object in view, but for the peace and prosperity of our common home. T seek no office. T ask no further reward than the con- viction of having done what I could to promote the real welfare of all classes of our commuuity.
