A motion was also passed ratify- ing an agreement with the Canad- ian Natlonal Railways to permit surface drainage pipes to run un- der railway crossings. Mr. 'I'.B Hickey. 0. A. was appointed town auditor for the coming year and Mr. George Hcgg was reappointed secretary of the Fire Department. A reading of the financial state- ment of the Board of School Trus- tees showed that expenditures for the year were approximately 352.- 000. Councillor H. B. Schurman re- ported that a new cooling unit has been installed in the town abat- tcir and is working well.

Mayor Wedge extended congrat- ulations to the recently re-clectod councillors and said he thought it was an indication that the people are satisfied with their civic gov- ernment.

All of the Councillors partlctpatad in a general exchange of congrat- ulations that followed the Mayor's remarks.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Moreshead of west Devon were very pleas- antly surprised recently on the oc- casion of their thirtieth wedding anniversary when members of the West Devon United Church Ladies Aid and Improvement society gathered to tender them ii recep- tion and made a presentation of a blanket. Mrs. Moreshead for many years has been the failtful Church Treasurer of West Devon United Church and for over twenty-five years has acted as the capable or- ganist of the church. Mr. Moras- head is one of the Elders of the West Devon Church and is vitally interested in all that pertains to the welfare of the community. A social evening was then enjoyed. The Blmadale Sisters defeated the O'Leary Maroon sisters in

the o'Leary rink on Prtday night 3-0. The llmsdale team was car- ried through to victory by the alertness and quick thinking of their goalie. Thelma. Wells.

These two teams will clash again in the Albei-ton rink on Tuesday night. when the 0'l..eary glrll receive some more practice they will perhaps turn the tide and come out on top.

This was the first lune for the O'Leary goalie. Elsa Ellis. Taking in mind some of the sensational saves she made. it is expected that she win prove a great factor in bringing her team through to victory in the end.

The Maroon sisters were the West Prince Champions last year when they defeated the St. Mary's squad in the O'Leary rink.

Friends were sorry to learn of the sudden death of Mr. Cecil Haslam which occurred in Provi- dence. R. 1., on Wednesday. Mr. Haslam was well known in Hamp- ton, wherc he spent many happy holidays with his father, the late Mr. Joseph Haslam. Surviving are his wife, the former Ethel Hinton. summerside. a half sister, and brother, Mrs. Muriel Galvin, Prov- idence, R. 1.. and Mrs. Louis Has- lam. Lake Wales. Florida; besides several nieces and nephews.

Miss Bax-bora Dunaford enter- tained the Hampton C. G. I. '1'. at her home on Friday. Jan. 28. There was a good attendance of members. After the meeting. lunch was served by the hostess, assisted by her sister Jane. and a pleasant hour spent in playing games.

The Community Films. which were presented in Hampton Hall on Friday evimim, Feb. 2, were much enjoyed by both young and old.
