The scene in the House of Lords yesterday,

when the Newfoundland delegates were heard at the bar of the House, was unexampled in Biitish history. The Prince of Wales and a host of the dignitaries of the Empire were present. and earnest tones. the treaties with Newfoundland pointed to the steadfast loyalty

of the colonists down through the ages, stated the objections to Lord Koutsford’s bill in an emphatic and concise manner, aud submitted Newfoandland’s ultimatum, which he regretted up to the present time had not been accepted,—though New- foundland therein proposed a heavy sacri- fice in order to maintain the unity of the Empire.
