SIR LOUIS DAVIES’ SUCCESS.

Sir Louis Davies made some curious statements in his speech at Charlottetown. Speaking, tor instance, of preferential trade with Great Britain, he ,said :
“The germ planted in 1892 has grown acd fleurished into a green bay tree and today the birds of theair not only in this country, but in the countries of Europe, are lodged in its branches.”

Hauirax, Sept. 13.—The battleship Reaown. the new flagship of the North American and West, Indan squadror,

When any petition for the revoca- eation of an Order-in-Council for the bringing into Operation of the second part of the Canada Temperance Act has beer heretofore or is hereafter adopted by the electors of the countv or city named there- ia and to which the same relates, the Govervor-in-Council may at any time after the expiration of thirty days from the day on which the same was 80 adopted by Order-in-Council, pub'ished in the Canada Gazette, declare that the second part of the said Act shall no longer be in force, and section ninety—four of the said Act so far as is inconsistent with the pro- visions of this section is hereby repealed.”
Now as the petition for repeal was adopted ty the citizens of Charlottetown on the 22nd of July, it follows that upon the expiry of thirty days from that date the Governor General in Courcil should have passed the repealingorder. We can- not, however, satisfy the Guardian, and tell our readers when this order will be passed as that will likely depend on when the ministers quit skylarking about the country on pleasure trips and settle down to business.
