Closing exercises, tinged with the sorrow of parting, yet antici- pating the challenge of social lead- ership, marked the end of the Leadership Course at St. Dunstans University on last Saturday mom- ing.

Twenty-seven students, for the past month, had been attending lectures in which speakers with na- tion-wide reputations had particl- pated. They engaged in public speaking, in credit union practice, and had taken part whole-hearted- 1y in sport and recreation program- met, 1n on attempt to learn the skills and techniques so lacking in rural communities today.

Addressing the students, Dr. Murphy, Rector of St. Dunstarrs. stated, "You have entered upon

your work in a serious manner, and have succeeded well." He congrat- ulated the class upon their sincere oo-operation. and congratulated Mr. W. R. Show, the Director oi the Youth Training, upon the selec- tion of the students who made up the course. The Admiralty announced the sinking of the Rawalpindi and it was reported that. 280 lives were lost aboard this 16,697-ton ship, formerly a. crack P. and O. liner.

The Pllstidski, 14,294 tons, struck a mine in the Nrrth Sea, and it was believed that. seven persons were missing.

(A statement issued at Paris by the Polish Telegraphic Agency said the Pilsudski was torpcdoecl by a U-boat.)

A British destroyer landed '16 persons believed to be from the Piisudski at a. north eastern coastal port, and later it was learned that in all 1'71 survivors were landed.

The Pilsudski was‘. disclosed to have been under charter to the Admiralty.

Other Losses
