...'CARS IN (l0l'.I.ISION -Two cars were in collision on the Georgetoun highway Wednesday evening while tryinz to pass one another. The accident occurred near the Roscncnlh district. as one car was coming towards Mon- tague and the other going to- wards Georgetown. Both cars were seriously damaged, one rolling over twice hcforc ending right side up in the ditch, The other car, of American registra- tion. suffered damage 'to the left front and side, but the local car suffered severe damage to the whole body. No one was hurt.

. . ' Mrs. J. N. MacDonsd was hostess to members of the Whim Road W. I. when they met on Tuesday night. December ilnd. for their regular monthly meeting. A number of visitors were welcomed to the meeting.

The president, Mrs. M. J. Mun- ro, opened the meeting with all rc- peating the "Collect for club wom- en." The secretary, Mrs. Cecil Campbell, attended to the busi- ness procedure and called the roll. which was answered by an ex- change ot Christmas gifts.

The minutes of the previous meeting. which was the annual meeting, were read and approved Included in the correspondence received during the month was a receipt from the King's County Hospital for a donation received from the Institute.

In answer to an appeal from the T. B. League. members unanimous- ly voted an amount to be sent. The secretary also read a report from the Department of Health. con- coming the recent visit of the Public Health nurse to the school.

In regard to the recent King's County Hospital Auxiliary pantry sale, members were not informed of such sale in time to donate articles. However. an amount was collected at the meeting which will be forwarded to the auxiliary.

Plans were made for remember- ing the shut-ins at Christmas time and the usual gift box will be packed for the Infirmary. An amount was also voted to give rt Christmas treat to the children of the district, which will be supplemented by members making fudge.

The committees for the month gave their reports. It was reported that the schocd was in need of scrubbing and members agreed to attend to this during the Christ- mas holidays. The sick committee reported two calls made and treats provided. Re-appointed for the coming month were Mrs. Garnet Moore and Mrs. M. J. Mrunro.

For entertainment at the next meeting. everyone will take an active part.

The usual penny sale. was put on by Miss Betty Ma'cBeth. and won by Mrs. Cecil Campbell.

Mrs. Colin MacDonald warmly invited the members to hold their next mteting at her home. A New Year's resolution will be given in answer to roll call.

There was a visitor here from the North Pole on Saturday after- noon. Derembcr 20th. Coming early. old Santa visited the Morcll Co- operative store for two hours, where practically every child for miles around came to see him. Not forgetting his old friend the village postmaster he slipped ovcr there to see if there was any mail for him.

Few people were travelling by train from this section of the country Saturday before Christ- mas. Only six were going to the City and four of them were rall- way men on passes. "(Times have changed." remarked one old timer. Asked about travelling. he said, "I can recall very well when this same train chugged along with fifteen coaches on Saturday be- fore Christmas." I-Ie recalled not so many years ago going to the City Saturday before Christmas when the late John Hughes was conductor. and every station was loaded with people.

. 3 Mrs. William and Mrs. Al- mah Chlng were hostesses to the Red Point Women's Institute at their home on December 4th, with an unusually large group of mem- bers and visitors present. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Charles Chlng. After the usual procedure tool: place, Mrs. Charlie Mccormsck. First Aid Instructor, North Lake. gave of her time in stressing the great need of first aid in all the communities and it was planned to meet for the first aid lesson in: Red Point School.

The committees reported having visited the sick and schools. Roll call was answered by twenty-one members. New committees are as follows: Cavendish sick. Mrs. Al- fred Moore and Mrs. Sterling Campbell; Cavendish school.
