The Central Experimental Farm has sent outthisseason 12,000 packages of seed grain to applicants from various parts of Canada. The latest addition to the seed department isasample of Grecian or fiity-day corn, which it is claimed will ripen in fifty days from date of seeding. If the experimeut proves successful it will be the popular species in Canada

Prof. Robertson intends visiting the Maritime Provinces next month, and will deliver a series of lectures in the interest of the dairyiug departinent.

An Islander Drowned. Port Hawkesbury, C. B., June 2.

Yesterday afternoon a man’s body was found in the harbor by twe boys and taken ashore, where it was identified as that of Jeffrey Meclsaac. He was last fall dis- charged here from the schr. Lilla Linwood, ind provided with a railroad ticket to Gloucester, which was found in his pocket long with a baggage check. The captain

he got drunk and fell over the wharf dur- ing the night. An inquest was held and he was buried to-day. He isa native of P. E, Island, but his family are now in the States.

Gladstone's Denial. Lonpon, June 2.

Gladstone denies that he ever stated the} shooting affair at Mitchelltown, Ireland, and the Siberian outrages were parallel outrages, he says he spoke of them to- gether, but did not desire the inference to be drawn that he regarded the Mitchell- town affair equally as bad as the outrages perpetrated by Russian officials in Siberia.
