Bairnsfather and Morris, of Summerside, are to take part in the Masonic Entertainment on Monday evening next, and will treat the audi- ence to selections from Pinafore. We are sure our music-loving citizens will be glad to know this. The gentlemen named are musi- cians of established reputation at Summer- side.

Tus Northern Light which left Pictou har- bor at 7 o clock triday morning, air:ved at Georgetown on Saturday morning at 8 o'clock, in time to meet the train for Charlottetown. The Gulf was full of heavy ice. She brings a large number of passengers, among ‘them a company of nine versons, on the staff of Meacham’s Atlas, - also the Inspector of Fish- eries, who has been absent from the Island for some weeks, on business of the Department te which he belongs. Her freight apartments were quite full.

Sr. Pavui's Cuurca Assoctation.—L. H. Davies, Esq., oceupied the ehair last evening, and Rev. Db. Fitzgerald read a paper on **Christian Missions to the Heathen.” Mr. Fitzgerald referred to the state of the Gentile world when Christ was born, the authority for missions, the earliest missionaries, the motive power for iaissionary work, the lapse of time before any systematic effort to convert the Heathen was made, the circumstances which led to the formation of the first Chris- tian Missionarry Society, the state of the world at the time, how the missionary story was received, the inadequacy of the means oe the magnitude of the work, and the work yet to be performed, etc., the whole forming a very interesting discourse. A lively debate followed. Rev. Mr. Osborne, F. W. Hales, Charles Palmer, Fredk. Peters, Arthur Peters, Thomas Williams. Lieut. Dixon and others tock part. Tlfe paper to be read on Friday evening next, is on Ritual in Worship —by Lieutenant Dixon.

W EK hereby inform the pub- ~ hie of this city, and the Islard generally, that previous to Stock-taking, we have re- solved to clear out as much of our Winter Stock as possible. We are aware that at this season it is hard to get people to buy even at reduced prices; but in the face of this difficulty we have made up our mind to adopt full measures, and sell our Wool Goocis and Dress Goods at a sacrifice.

Our Goods have been very cheap all winter, as the run of trade we have had fully testifies. Our store has become the resort of those Ladies who know how tomake a penny go a. long way, and who know a cheap article whea they see it; and when we say we are going to reduce the prices of our Dress Goods and Trimmings, we know we shall be believed. We are particul- arly anxious to clear out our present Stock, in order to intro- duce as much of the newest style! of Dress Material as possible, and at the very lowest prices.
