Saw Fravcisco, Oct. 10.—An American baby has been born on Hirshel Island, in the far north. In all likelihood a baby never saw the light of day on Hirshei I+- land before. It is the off=prirng of Mrs. Sherman, whose husband is captain of the whaler Belaga. The island lies norta of the boundary line,Leing the extreme north- ern portion of Alaska. If it were possible to follow an fair-line from Sitka to Hirsiel Island,the traveller would have to journey 1500;miles straight north before be could see the bold headlines of the Island.
