Generous Donors.—There are some rich men, resident in Canada, who, during their own lives, can doliberal acts. Mr. McLaren’a gift of $50,000 to help to endow Knox's Col- lege, is a case in point; so also is Mr. David Morrice’s gift of a building for a Convocation Hall and Library tothe Presbyterian College, Montreal, at a cost of $80,000, a gift that is illustrated in the last number of the Canadian News. McGill College is constantly receiving liberal tokens of the affection and hberality of its friends, — St. John Telegraph.

An immense assemblage gathered at the Cooper’s Union last night to greet the Ger- man Socialist, Herr Johann Most. The platform was crowded with Socialists, and Herr Most was received with a storm of applause. Most upon being introduced delivered a short speech in German, in which he described the spread of the revolutionary movement.

At a meeting held last night to form a branch of the Irish National Land League, Mr. Harrington, in his speech, said the more prosperous farmers must be told that if they did not throw themselves into the new movement, they would have the whole force of labor agitation directed against them.

In the police court to-day, Westgate was charged with participation in the Phoenix Park murders, and remanded.
