-DIED AT WI-IYMOUTH. MASS. - Numerous friends and acquaint- ances in P.-E. Island will- regret to hear of the passing of Mrs. Ellen Blood in her 85th year. Mrs. Blood was born at Irishtown and was brought up in Hope River- both her father, Martin Murphy and mother Margaret Ready Mur- phy, died when she and her brother Frank were mere chil- dren. Frank predeceased her about t enty years ago. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Otis H. French (Mary). and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her passing. Her son, Frank Blood, predeceased her some years ago. Although she lived over sixty years abroad, her heart was ever and always with the Island and its people. She made annual visits every summer for over fifty years. The funeral Mass was held on March 6th at St. Williams Church. Weymouth. Her many friends will long cher- ish the memory of one who was always ,a friend indeed.-K.

The 0'1.oary Maroon sisters el- iminated tha lilmsdale Girls hoc- key team by taking the second game of the best of three West Prince semi-finals in a. rousing game which lasted a total of eighty four minutes, in the Alberton rink on Friday night. It was a close. crowd pleasing contest with nei- ther team having much advantage over the other.

After regulation play the score was tied at I-1 with Anna Ramsay scoring for Elmadale at 9:35 in the first period and Helen Kennedy tielng up the game for the Maroons

second period on ”an assist from Freda Smallonan. Neither teem managed a score in the final per- iod despite some desperate playing and the game went to ten minutes oi overtime with still neither side eking out a tally. After 14 minutes of "sudden death" hockey Freda smallman finally beat the Elms- dale goal tender with a terrific shot on a breakaway to win the game and the west Prince title for the o'Leary Maroon sisters. Pen- alties went to Betty Rennie and Betty Mlcxinnon.

Referees were Jimmy Baglole and Robert Profit.

Gallant-Maclnnis Wedding '

-A very pretty wedding took place on Saturday morning. Feb. 28rd t 9 am. in the Church of the - oly Family at Kensington, when Eleanore Elizabeth, daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. John Macin- nis, New Annan. became the bride of Edmund Emile. son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Emile Gallant of Cape Egmont. P. E. I.

The ceremony was performed by Rev. Louis Callaghan who also celebrated the Nuptial Mass.

The bride, given in marriage by her brother, Mr. Allison Macm- nls. wore a. wedding gown oi white satin with ful length skirt and sweetheart neckline. Her ,floor- length veil was held in place by a coronet of seed pearls and she carried a bouquet of Better Time roses. Her only ornament was a pearl necklace.

Miss Georgie Maclnnis was her sister's bridesmaid and was dress- ed in a. floor-length gown of pink taffeta with elbow-length mitts and veil to match, while her bou- quet was of Pernet roses.

The groom was attended by his brother. Mr. Theodore Gallant. The Wedding March was nicely played by Miss Helen MacDonald. who also sans hymns during the

Following the marriage a recep- tion was held at Birch Hill Tour- lst Home. Sumlnerside East, for immediate relatives and friends of the bridal and groom. Following the reception the bride changer. into a dress of blue sheer, with navy coat. purse and shoes, white hat and gloves.

-In the evening they tored to cape Egmont, where a reception was held for the bride and groom at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Gallant. Previous to the wedding the.bride was tendered a miscellaneous shower at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Williams. New Annan. Mr. and Mrs. Gal- lant will reside in Summerside.

Betty Carol also received a copy of the New Testament from her fellow members of the Junior Auxiliary of St. Mark's Anglican Church. as well as a silver locket from her school teacher and ptmlls of Grade 2. Many individual gifts were also received from friends and play- mates.
