articulate opinion about the nature of their orienta-

tion? Is there nota need for a balance in the presen-

tation of these issues as well? Is there some particular

reason why Christianity alone must give place to

opposing ideas, and not these perspectives as well?

Why is it, then, that radical feminism and

homosexuality advocates seem to fear the presentation of anything but what supports them? Why do they demand the removal of any dissenting or differing opinions (such as the recent furor over the Backlash)? Why do not the free speech advocates petition for the right of conservative ideology, right-wing politics, or the ‘politically incorrect’’ to present their side of the issue? Why must it be only one side that gets peti- tioned to stop? It is most interesting to see the con- tradiction in the advocacy of free speech -- youcan say what you like, as long as you agree with the politically correctagenda. Freedom of speech re- quires that the rights of pornographers to peddle their wares cannot be curtailed (despite the involvement of pornography in 99% of rape cases); yet it offers no support to people who wish to study science from the perspective of creationism. I believe that pluralism is nota threat to the truth -- unless pluralism is used as a smokescreen for politically correct censorship.

Dear Editor;

If being a feminist means fighting against pay ineq- uity, discrimination, sexual harassment or family violence; then I am one. I’m not afraid to say it. But can’ta man fight against them too? Are women the only ones that can understand and fight these kind of issues? I believe not. They are social problems that should be solved by women and men together.

Also I wanted to point out that, although Mr. Murphy and Mr. Hanus have suggested feminism is the only problem on campus, I feel there are other problems.

I strongly believe that men should also have the freedom to criticize the way our feminist’s goals are achieved. The *‘Backlash’’ is not hate literature to me. Mr. Murphy and Mr. Hanus raise good ques- tions. Sometimes I agree with them, sometimes | don’t; but the fact remains that they say out loud what many think silently. Should we crush them down for doing so? Should we close our eyes and pretend there is nothing wrong? All the time spent on arguing that they were writing hate literature should have been used by Ms. Jelliffe and others (who I believe are quite knowledgeable on the subject) to refute the
