Viscount Alexander, Chief Scout for Canada, will officially open the first Canadian Boy Scout Jamboree at Connaught Camp, 12 miles from Ottawa, at 11:00 a.m. on July 18.

Actual registration of Scouts coming to the First Canadian Jam- boree now totals 2,740. By Provin- ces they are: Newfoundland, 44; Prince Edward Island, 3-1; Nova Scotia, 194; New Brunswick, 215; Quebec, 150; Ontario, 946; Manitoba 108; Saskatchewan, 107; Alberta. 212; British Columbia, 445; Ll Federation des Scouts Cathoiiquel from the Province of Quebec, 175; and the Boy Scouts of America, 110.

Jet aircraft will zoom over the first Canadian Boy Scout Jamboree at Connaught Camp on the morn- ings of July l9 and 20 when No. 410 (F) Squadron, R.C.A.F., pre- sent special displays through the courtesy of the Minister of National Defence, the Hon. Brooke Ciaxton.

Special bus trips to acquaint the Jamoree Scouts with Canada's Cap- ital are being arranged. Each day. from July 19 to 22, some 700 Scouts will leave the camp at 9:00 a.m. to visit the Parliament Buildings, the War Museum, the Dominion Arch- ives, the R.C.A.F. Station at Rock- ciiffe. the National Museum and the Dominion Experimental Farm. Each Scout null also have free time to shop and tour Ottawa before re- turning to camp at; 5:00 p.m.

Special “Jamboree? trains from Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Trurq will carry Scouts to the First Canadian Jamboree in addition to the hundreds of Scouts who will reach Ottawa by regular trains and other means of transportation. Mrs. Hubert Caseley entertained the members of the Spring Valley W. I. for the June meeting. Meet- lfll-Z opened in the usual order. Eighteen members and four visi- tors were present. Word was re- ceived that the film boar-d would come to the hall June 8th. Mem- bers decided to sell candy. Also decided to invite "Norboro “play" to the hail June 6th. Members to sell ice cream. The Secretary gave ‘l report on the Maipeque play, The_ Institute are sponsoring a picnic at the shore for the school children with ice cream. The June meeting of Success Women's Institute was held at the home of Mrs. Amy MacKinnon with the president, Mrs. John MacKay presiding. Eighteen mem- bers and five visitors answered roll call with a joke. After the usual preliminaries, the regular business was taken up.

The secretary gave the follow- ing report: $30.09 was the net pro- ceeds from the Institute play, “A Family Affair". Grahams Road is justly proud of the showing made by their players. having defeated the Cornwall players in the play- offs by a score of 70 to 72, and then were unduly classed to com- pete with Cornwaii again in the semi-finals, losing by one point, under different adjudication.

The sick committee reported no sick calls. and the school commit- tee visited the school and treated the children to apples and or- anges.

The members were asked for suggestions for the district con- vention, to be held July 14th. to be submitted to the convention secretary.

A nessage of thanks was con- veyed to the lnditute from a pa- tient in the P. E. I. Hospital ex- pressing thanks for flowers re- ceived. Two leiters of appreci- ation were read from our adopted Institute in England, for three boxes received recently. and it" was decided to send more boxes, the same to be packed at the

home of Mrs. Fred Campbell Monday, June 20th. Other una pondence consisted

of a letter of thanks from the Central Office for recipes and household hints received: also a letter requesting that the mem- bcrs contribute to the handicraft exhibit to he held in conjunction with Old Home Week and spons- ored this year by the Women's Institutes.
