Suez Canal In War Time

In view of the dispute between Italy and Ethiopia, the Law Times has publshed an article dealing with the legal position of Great Britain and possible international complications in regard to the use of the Suez Canal should there be war.

Recallng that England holds less than half of the shares in the Canal which is mainly French, the article says:

“The Convention of Constanti- nople was made in October. 1888, by nine powers.

"The Canal s to be open." cle- clnrcs the treaty, “in time of war as well as in the the time of peace, to the warships and merchant vessels of all nations.
