Wasuincton, Aprii 30.—News came here yesterday from Admiral Dewey’s ‘quadroo now on its way to the Phillipines to do battle with the Spanish fleet. One otlicer poimted ont that even if Admiral Dewey succeeded in defeating the Spanish fleet, the Spanish officials who control the cable connecting the Islands with the rest of the world, in all probability may sup- press the news of the action or cistort the facts into a Spanish victory.

Hoxc Kone, April 36.—The British cruiser Immortalize sailed from here for Manilla today to protect Britain’s interests. It is understood that the cruisers Edgar aod Grafton are to follow shortly with instructions to take off all British residents who may desire to leave Manilla in the event of siege vy the American ships.
