SONGS IN DEMAND — Writing from Vancouver, Mr. Clarence Charters states that his “Green Gables“ and "Jasper Lullaby" songs are in demand by a New York music publishing firm, and that the former song, written when Mr. Charters was residing here, is being used by Famous Players in the Vancouver showing of the "Anne of Green Gables" film. His songs are on display in ihe theatre lobby, and they have received pub- licity in a special feature in tho Vancouver Province.

S. of Bedeque United The president Mrs. Ernest Weeks, Church met in the church vestry on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 14, presided. and opened the meeting with a two minute silence; mem- bers standing with bowed heads in memory of one of their devoted members, the late Mrs. John Stu- art, who recently passed away. Mrs. Stuart was n life member of the Woiniaus Missionary Society and organist for the society, and for the church, for thirty-five years. and was very active in g1] branches of church work. She gave of her time and talents for a great many years.

Five house calls and five hospital calls were reported. The president read e. letter of thanks she had received from the Canadian Church relief abroad Depot Director. Toronto, one, for a package of clothing sent from this society. In his letter he re- ferred to 3'70 tons of clothing that had already been shipped to Gregg Britain, Europe and Asia. and re- ceived many letters of gratitude.

Einstein llas New Theory 0n Gravitation

NEW YORK, lilec. 26 ~iAPl — Albert Einstein aflcr a lifetime of work has made a great discovery it was announced today.

His discovery is n theory which he believes explains what gravitat- ion ls. Gravitation has been one of the greatest scientific myster- ies. It is gravity which keeps humans from floating off the earth. Ii is gravity which keeps the earth and other planets spinning always in the same-paths amund the sun.

Einstein's llew theory tries to carplaln all the basic physical laws in terms of gravitation. It is an attempt to describe, in one law. everything that goes on every- where from the inside of one tiny atom 1o the limits of the universe. He has been frying to do this for 30 years.

If Einstein is right, it may he a key to understanding the universe.

Einstein calls it a new “gener- alized theory of gravitation," and says it is an extension of his fam- Ous theory of relativity. It will form a new chapter in his revised hook. “The Meaning Of Relativ- ity". to he published in February by Princeton University Press.

Like relaiiviiy_ the new theory is expressed in involved mathe- matics. The heart or meat of the explanation of gravity is four equations, given in letters or symbols. not numbers.

The theory was annotu-iced by Princeton University Press at a press conference at tho opening of the annual meeting of the Amer- ican Associafion for the Advance- merrt of Science.
