Philippine Situation

Montreal, July 15.—B. William Rob ertson, @ prominent English resident Manila, who has arrived in Montreal from that city, gives some interesting facts re rarding the present situation in the Philip pines :—

“Aguiaaldo,” says Mr. Robertson, “is remorseful. His influence waning aod he often sits down and cries over the miserable condition into which he has placed his people. There is great dissen~ sion in his army. Friendly Filipinos have been the medium of communication bee tween the Americian authorities and the military leaders of the insurrection in Cevite with a view of a peaceful settlement. but to this Aguinaldo will not agree, he saying that having sworn to support the insurrection he mustremain to the end. 3ands have gone out for plunder, and are willing to murder. They are as dangerous to their leader as they are tothe Ameri- cans. The banditesarethe men with whom the United States will have to deal, and im order to keep them down it wiil be neceas~ ary to maintain a large army in the field, to remain until the theives are either cap- tured or killed,”
