A contract to repair the break- water at the entrance to Summer- side harbour, particularly the stonework, has been let to Me- Namara Ltd.. of Toronto. it was learned over the week-end from Mr. J. Watson Macblaught, MP.

Lieut. Commander R. C. Mac- Mlllan. l).S.C. and Bar. has once more entered full time service with the Canadian Navy. He join- ed the staff of i-l.M.C.S. "Queen Charlotte” on Friday and will re- main at the local barracks until further posting is received.
Lieut. - Commander ltiacMillan has been on the active Reserve of the R.C.N. since his demobilizat- ion at the end of World War 1!. during which he was twice award- ed the Distinguished Service Cross.
He first distinguished himself during a patrol of the Mediter- rancan, at which time he assumed command of a mine sweeper when his Captain cracked under the strain of battle. Because of his efficiency, he was promoted from Sub-Lieutenant to Lieutenant. and was given command of the sweeper.
His official score is five enemy planes, possibly eight. Proof the additional three were shot down could not be definitely establish- ed.
Potato dealers in the Province, a number of whom are reported to be objecting to the compulsory col- lection from the growers of one cent for eaoh hundred pounds of potatoes sold. will meet in Sum- merside this evening to discuss the matter.
The levy regulations are embod- ied in the Prince Edward island Marketing Board Act under which all potato marketing in the Province is conducted. The one cent levy was impcsed to aid the potato in-
dustry through advcrtiztsig and other means. Three years ago the Bacteria
Ring R.ot.Act imposed a similar levy to control diseases threatening the industry. Later the money was used to advertizc and sell Island pola- toes.

Butter supplies in cold storagLV and dairy factories in P.E.I. on Jan. 1st this year were only slightly over half those in storage a year ago, according to figures released by Mr. I-l.J. MacDonald, Provincial Dairy superintendent.
On Jan. 1. 1951 there were 271.000
lbs. of butter in storage compared to 538.009 lbs. held on the same date a year ago. Weekly butter production is about 6.000 lbs. below that of a year ago. For the week ending Jan. 20th inst there were 46.717 lbs. of butter pro- duced compared to 52.817 lbs. for the corresponding week last year.
Butter supplies in the other Mar- itime Provinces are also below those of a year ago. Maritime butter pro- duction is estlmated to be 26 per cent below that of a year ago.

Earl Charles Keddy, Dartmouth N. 5.. was awarded 31.500 damages against John Daniel Walker. Char- lcttetown, at the conclusion yester- day afternoon of a three day hear- ing before Chief Justice Thane A Campbell.
The action arose from a collision at southport last June when the Keddy car was struck from behind by a truck driven by the defend- ant. A third party in tile case, Gor- don Bears. Charlottetown. was ex- onerated from all blame by the Clvil Jury. Bears had been driving

At I meeting held last evening in the City Hall, a committee was appointed to draw up a program for the week of festivities which is to be held in Charlottetown comuencing July 1.
Approximately fourty represen- tatives of various organizations attended the entihuslastic meeting, and many excellent suggestions were made as to different ways of creating interest in the project. The' meeting decided it would be I Charlottetown week of festivities. and it was suggested the name chosen should tie in with this thought if possible.

The meeting passed a vote of thanks to the Press for their co- operation in creating interest in the proposed festivities. and to The Guardian in particular for conducting their "Wanted A Name" contest.
Suggestions made by the meet- ing in regard to the program in- cluded one for I ten-mile swim- mlning race, and another was that the Queen of the Festival be chosen after a Province-wide con- test.

I A well known Charlottetown and Dundas woman, Mrs. Stuart Morson died in the Prince Edward Island Hospital yesterday after an illness of a little over a month. she was '79 years of age.
Mrs. Morson was taken to hos- pital suffering from virus pneum- lonia in Decunber. She succumbed 'to a heart attack.
She lived in Dundas a large part. of her life until she moved to Charlottetown several years ago where she had since lived with her
daughter Enid. Secretary of Trinity United Church. Another daughter Beryl is I
missionary in India. Miss Morson visited the province is little over a year ago. Mrs. Morson is also sur- vived by a son Wilbur in Florida.
Her husband predeceased her several years ago. A sister Mrs. Winsloe of Toronto was home at the time of Mrs. Morson's death.

Three young men narrowly es- caped serious injury yesterday moming when the tnick in which they were travelling was in col- lision with a train at Oolvf'le Crossing. about twelve miles west of Charlottetown.
The men jumped from the truck before the collision. They saw the train approaching and the driver. Mr. Ralph Younker. Colviile, nt- tcmptcd to stop the truck. The slippery road prevented the truck from stopping quickly enough.
The train was an extra travelling from Charlottetown to Borden and came in collision with the truck about 10 olclock. The truck was bad- ly damaged.
Mr. Younker, the owner of the truck -was slightly shaken up while the other two men escaped unhurt. They were engaged in trucking materials to Colvlllc station.

A 14-year-old Summerside youth. Haddon Mellish, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Meilish, Foundry Street. who was the object of an intensive Maritime-wide search late Tuesday when he failed to return home after leaving for school in the afternoon was dis- covered yesterday morning in Peticodiac. N. B. He was at the home of an uncle. Dr. Harold Mellish.
R..C.M.P. at Summerside had radioed the lad's description throughout their Maritime net- work and received word about nine o'clock yesterday from their Peiicodiac detachment that he had been found.
It was understood the boy had been sent home from school. when he addressed I teacher by his first name. with instructions to return the following day with his parents.
Until he was found fears were held for his safety in the sub- zero weather and naturally his parents were particularly wor- rled.-S.
An enthusiastic public meeting at the Canadian legion last evening unanimously passed a motion to forward a resolution to the repre- sentative in the Federal Govern- ment in regard to Canada's urgent need for preparedness for war as outlined in the Canadian Legion's "operation Pr:-paredneu" bulletins. The resolution which was read to the meeting and heartily endorsed by everyone in attendance read as follows: "Resolved that this public meet- ing of Charlottetown citizens called by the Canadian Legicn urge our Federal representatives to press for immediate national registration of all Canadian citizens in order to secure full information as to Can- ada's man power. "Further. that we urge the Do- minion Government to put into ef- fect some system for the compul- sory training of Canadian citizens in our reserve forces. and immed- iate-mobilijzation of industrial re- sources for defence production."
The motion was moved by N. W. Lowther. Provincial representative to the Dominion Command of the Canadia Legion. and seconded by H. Vessey, President of the Char- lottetown Branch of Canadian 1.0- gom.

."Charlottetow'n's Festive Wear" was the name chosen from the large number of suggestions re- ceived for a name for the week of festivities to be held in Charlotte- town commencing on July 1. The winning name was sent in by Miss Janet Rupert, Greenfield Avenue. Charlottetown.
The selection was made yester- day afternoon at a. meeting of the name selection committee. and was chosen from the more than 150 suggestions received. It was thought the word "festive" was
particularly appropriate for the occasion. meaning .3 19, does, "joyous, gay, mirthful."
The planning committee also met during the afternoon and accepted the name chosen. This committee made minor changes
in the tentative program which has been drawn up. and will bring their suggestions before the next
meeting on Wednesday evening February 7. Mr. Earl Taylor was acting
chairman in the absence of Brig W. W. Reid, and most of the af- ternoon was taken in selecting suitable chairmen for the various committees. These suggestions will also come before the next meeting.

The final civil jury case to be heard at the January sitting of the Supreme Court opened before Justice Mark R. McGuigan yester- day morning with Edward J. Prsught. plaintiff. and Melvin Jenkins, defendant.
The plaintiff is claiming S700 damages as a result of I collision at the intersection of Rochford and Kent Streets on October 2. 1949. The defendant is counter- claiming for 8532.28.

Mr. Fred M. Cannon. officer in charge of the Federal Entomolog- ical Laboratories in Charlotte- town, was guest speaker It the regular meeting of the Charlotte- town Kinsmen Club held last eve- ning at the Charlottetown Hotel. Choosing as his subject "Some aspects of entomological work in P. E. 1.", Mr. Cannon outlined the growth of the study of this work. and stressed its economical Is- pect. He told of various exper- iments conducted and the many insect pests encountered.
The speaker also told the meet- ing briefly of the many diseases transmitted to humans by insects. and how easy it was for tiheee in- sects to travel to the far corners of the earth via modem means of transportation. He stated it was because of this case of travel that all modern conveyances were sub- ject to the most rigid inspection rules.
Mr. Cannon continued by saying the potato beetle had been first discovered in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies in 1824. and it was not until 1874 that it showed in Eastern Canada. At the con- clusion of his address the speaker answered many questions put by the meeting in regard to the prac- tical application of his work.
