Lonpox, June 18.~—There are indica- tions that Lord Roberts considers that the end of the etruggle in South Africa is not far distant. One of these is the fact that the Natal Volunteers were dismissed to their homes by Buller on Saturday, They were cheered as they left camp.

Another indication is the report current in authoritativeand well-informed military circles that the regulars are to be with- drawn from Buller’s army and embarked at Durban for China. The troops drawn from India will probably go next.

Orrawa, June 18.—Mr. G. F. Owen’ of Charlottetown, sessional officer, died this morning in the hospital after two days illn ess of angina pectoris.

Shtisfactory Regorts Prom Sevoral Funds—Success of the Century Fund.

Hauirax, N. 8., June 15.—This pas the third day of the Presbyterian Gen- eral Assembly. In the morning reports from the aged and infirm ministers’ fund and the ministers’ widows and orphans were received, showing everything in a satisfactory condition. In the afternoon Dr. Warden presented the report of the eentury fund. Up to May 31 $709,000 had been subscribed, of which $301,000 is

for the debt fund and $408,170 for the common fand. TheSabbath schools were asked for $10,000 and have already paid in $10,233. Of “souvenir savings banke’ $33,500 have been sent out by the coms mittee. Subscriptions had been received from 553 congregations, with the returns in many Cases not complete, and upwards of six hundred congregations of known abilitv are to be heard from; 347 ministers of 1.244 in the various Presbyteries have have subscribed $80,830. Tne commiitee has no doubt that the ministers of the church will give the $100,000 expecied from them, Since the financial year closed $460,000 have been added to the fund,
