I beg to thank you for your letter of 26th inst. It would of course be impossible to do anything not strictly in accordance with the Act. In reading it over it appeared to me that it would adwit of the Sinking Fand being applied by annual draw- ings, provided tue Loan was extinguished in tweaty years, but no doubt [ am mistaken in this.

The comparison you make with other Bonds is perfectly just, nevertheless if any one of those Volo. nies whose Bonds now stand at 96 were to attempt a fresh issue I feel certain they could not do se within five per cent. of present price at least. Any answer to your questions must of coarse be quite problematical, but [ should venture the following conjectures :—

Ist. The Loan, in its present form, would not at the present time be takea above 90, if at that.
