For those who weren't ab- le to attend, last Sat. night the Neptune Theatre r.group from Halifax did the play "You're A Good Man 0 Charlie Brown" at the con— federation center. It's a very well known‘play which was adapted by Clarke Ges- ner from the noted cartoon strips "Peanuts? by Charl- es M. Schulz.

The play is done on the \_assumption that everybody

\is in some way familiar with the different charac-_ ters from the comic strip. The play began with the s- ix different characters on stage; Charlie Brown, Lucy, Snoopy, Linus, Schroeder and Patty. No introduction is given to any of the ch- aracters, who w no cos— tumes (even Snoopy just everyday clothes. Each ch— aracter is easily identif— ied though by their most common characteristics; Charlie Brown - his const- ant look of stupidity;Lucy- her high pitched piercing voice; Snoopy - lying on top of his dog house; Lin- us - his blanket; Schroed- er — his piano; Patty - her jump rope.

The play consisted of di- fferent lines from the "P- eanuts" strip interspersed. with songs which were wri- tten about the different episodes that have appear- ed in the comic strip (ﬂy Blanket and He, The Kite, The Red Baron). Each of t the players did an excell- ent job of their character, but what really excelled in the play was, the orch- estration. A strong criticism that 7 would have of the play was that there were a few lin— es that just didn't go wi- th the flow of the play. One of the most blatent was where Patty gives the "Pledge of Allegience". "Peanuts“is very much an international comic strip that appears in over 700 newspapers throughout the world. A director should I feel free to change lineS' in a play if they are not quite right for the circu- mstances. '

Another complaint is that the stage at the Confed. Center was filthy. Two of the characters had on bla- ck pants and each time th- ey would kneel or sit on the stage, the dirt that they collected always sho-

overall though, the play was very well done, with
