Damage to the cxtcnt of $23,000 was caused early yesterday morn- ing when one of the most destruc- tivc fires which has occurred in Charlottetown for some time broke out in Mr. J. Stanley Wed- iock‘s garage in tho rear of his residence, Upper Prince Street. By about 4.30 o'clock the fire was under control. but not before it hnd destroyed s gyrage and nine cars, together with other contents of the building.

The noise of an explosion about 2 a. m. awoke Dr_ IS. N. Robertson and Mr. John Wonnacot. who both live nearby. and‘ those gentlemen nwoko Mr. Wcdlock and sent in the alarm. The new scslo approved is as follows: Ministers in self-sustaining charges to hsve-SLSOO a year and a house; ministers of augumented charges, class A, married men $1,800 and house. unmarried mun $1.800 with- out a house; class B married men. $1.700 and house. unmarried men. 51.500; students $15 per week and board. Further provision is made for increase of $50 to $100 over this scale for ministers remaining more than one year in the ssmc charge. In the case of class A, aug- mented charges. the congregations calling ministers shall-provide at least $1.200 towards -his salary and in the case of class B. $900, with a house in each case if tho minister is a married man.
