Important to Shippers. Monrreat, Novy. 2.

Judge Taschereau has just rendered an important judgment for shippers of cattle and owners of vessels. In July, 1885, A. J. Thompson and other western cattle deaiers place:t on board the Allan steamship Nor- wegian, at this port, one hundred head of cattle, to be shipped to Glasgow. Phe cattle were embarked at daybreak with the understanding that the ship would start in the early morning. She only left about 4p. i., however, and as theday was exceed- ingly warm twenty-one cattle took sick and died from its effects, some in port = s6and = =6others = after leaving. An action of damages was subsequently taken by the shippers with the result thatthe court has granted $100 damage for the loss of each head of cattle, a total of $2,100, attributing the death of the animals to the negligence of the com- pany’s agents in not complying with tlie terms of the contract.

Another Explosion in London.

New York, Nov. 2.

A London special to the Evening World says an attempt was made this p. m. to blow up the Carlton Cluh. The explosion was in the basement, and blew out all the first floor windows and injured four per- sons. The Carlton Club, on Pall Mall, is considered the most beautiful Club House in London. The members include most of | the members of the Houses of Lords and | Commons. The streets were filled with} excited people, and the police are driving | all from the ruins.

Hon. Edward Blake Advises.

The Hon. Edward Blake, formerly mem- ber of the Dominion Cabinet,made a speech | to-day at Glensharren, the scene of the evictions on Delmegee estates. He said it was a shame and humiliation to find a man living in luxury, while the tenants on his estate are in a state of misery. Upon such a man he would invoke the curse of God and advised his hearers to combine against the landlords.
