MONTREAL. April I -- Reports that the Provincial Bank of Can- ada would settle claims amount. ill! to 8500.000 to depositors who lost cash. bonds and shares in the break-in oi the- bank's branch in st. Jerome last November. were termed "highly exaggerated" yes- terday by an oiliclal oi the Un- derwriter's Adjustment Bureau in Montreal.

"The bank will settle claims amounting to 0190.000-the hali- mlllion dollar figure is way out,oi' line." Roger Corbin, insurance adjuster oi the bureau. told The Gazette.

The Provincial Bank, which started reimbursing clients last Friday. has settled a total of 15 claims. The remaining es claims will be completed this week.

A bank spokesman said that the settlements now being made are to cover losses in Canadian cur- rency. shares and savings bonds. No claims are being settled (or jewelry losses.

No oiiieial llgure was available on the cash amount involved in the settlement or the 15 claims.

The Milton Hornets swamped the Cornwall Meteors 14-5 early last week in the final same or the North River Hockey League play- downs to win the S. R. Johnston Trophy and the Macliinnon Bros. Trophy.
