Greetings from the new office. If you*we: strolled through the first’ floor of Main ‘building lately, you will notice a huge empty space that’s where we used to be. Now you can find us in Robertson Library where the Computer Centre used to _ be

housed.

So now that our office is

that much closer to the pulse

of the university, feel free to drop on by. . My office hours are as follows, or you

Tuesday and Thursday 10 -

employment-related matters.

I would like to remind

seniors and other students who

have not already started preparing for their “job search” to come in and register. I would be happy to meet with you individually or in groups to help with resumes, interviews, job search techniques or ‘other concerns. Listed below are s ome upcoming organized sessions. If the timing is not right, please see us for

other arrangements.

Consession Attendant -- required for four or more evenings per week from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm, some Saturdays and Sundays. Mus t have outgoing personality and

pleasing and helping attitude

in working with patrons and

other staff. Must have fast and accurate cash handling experience. Will be expected to continue working for summer

as well. Resume required.

After a few changes in maéfa@gement, CIMN Radio is on the air with.more to offer you. We are located on 700 AM on campus, ang 102.3 FM cable off campus. Our broadcasting hours are from 8:09 am until 1:00 the following morning, seven days a week.

I'd like to take this opportunity to explain a little about CIMN ang it's members. Located on the third floor of the Student Union Building, the station is run by university students for other univer. sity students. There are fifty volunteers on staff who fill shifts each week. This allows them to.bring you the music that YOU want to hear.

What makes us alittle different from other radio stationsin town is the way our format is set up. We virtually follow no rules when it comes to programming the day’s music. We are not limited as to what we can or can not play. Recently, you may notice that other radio stations are going out for the yuppie-aged listening audience, We aren't. We are sick of listening to the “Oldies but Goldies” everytime we turn on the radio.

At CIMN, the members play the music that they want to play. They design the way their show is played. Due to CRTC rules, each Canadian radio station including ours must play one-third Cana- dian content.Other than that, the DJs are left alone to fill a two or three hour void with music.

You may want to hear “Slim Chance” and his heavy metal music each week. If not, than maybe the Rolling Stones and David Bowie are more your “cup of tea”. This can be heard on Shelli Wheaton’s shows throughout the week. There are spotlights on different artists every now and then, as well as albums being featured.

We are versatile enough to play the kind of music that you don't hear everyday on other local stations. When was the last time (or any time for that matter) when you were able to hear a spotlight on the Clash? U2? How about the Smiths? Whether you want top forty, reggae, alternative or heavy metal, we are able to provide you with it.

We at CIMN are a reflection of the rest of the student body. We are here to expose you to an alternative music style. We want to offer you an alternative choice to the everyday trendy-bop music that gets played over, and over, and over. One of the advantages of being a campus radio station is that we can be who we want to be. We don't necessarily rely on the advertising agents to keep us alive. You, the students keep us “Alive and Kicking”.

I'd also like to mention that we are one of the only (if not the only) radio stations in Charlottetown who will take caller requests. Feel free to call us at anytime (892-8980 or 566-0417) during our broad- casting day. Why not come up to have a look around the place with any one of the station’s DJs. We would like to hear any sugges- tions, recommendations or complaints.

So, now that you know a little more about CIMN we hope that you will continue listening and supporting us. I'd like to thank all DJs who have helped out with everything during this semester and the last semester. You've all shown dedication and have werked very hard making us who we are. I'd also like to thank the manage- ment who have worked so many hours during the last year.

If anyone is interested in becoming a DJ, it’s not as difficult as many of you think. Come up and get some training and then you can fillin for a shift. Everyone is welcome and urged to know about the radio station.
