SuockinG Accipent’.—On Thursday morning the Sth iust., the dwelling house et Edward | Christopher, at Nail Pond, Tiguish, was destroy- | ed by tire, and Christopher, his wife, two chil- dren, and au old wan named Kelly, perished in the tiames. The servant girl first discovered the fire, and gave the alarm by entering the bed-room and awaking the sleeping husband and wite. Chris- topher, it is said, made the remark that “ there is four hundred pounds in the Bar-room, and it is hard if I can’tsaveit.” He entered the Bar-room, and his wife proceeded up stairs for the children, but being suffocated they did not return, and their lifeless remains, together with those of the other unfortuuates, were afterwards found, partly pro- tected from being destroyed, by reason of a quan- tity of grain ou them, which descended from a lott as the floors gave way.—Christopher was a blacksuecth, aud in addition to that business kept a grog-shop. He had accumulated some money, as bis last words indicate. —Since the above was written we received a letter concerning the above calamity, giving further particulars, The cause ot the fire is unknown.
