Thus the provision that there shall be no taxation on improvements is away; and all the improvements—all the buildings erected and fields manured since 1894—and all the improvements that will hereafter be made on every farm in the Province, are subjected to taxation. If this is not a provision “for further taxing the farmers,” as alleged to have been stated by Mr. Horne, we don’t kncw the meaning

The nomivation of this many times defeated old gentleman was ratified at Cardigan on Friday Jast; but the nomin- ation, as before, was aciually made in Charlottetown.

Whether the Cardigan District will ac- cept the man thus forced upon them by ihe Government, who bas been three times defeated, who, I am confidently informed, was rejected for the potition of School [rustee in his native town, is a matter that will not be known until the 21st inst. when the electors of this banner Conser- vative district will giye their answer in thnoder tones—No.

The Cardigan district has had many victimes in the last twenty years in the grit cause; McLaren, Norton, Sigsworth, Scrimgeour, Kickbam and a long list of others have been sent into political obliv- ion. This time the victims will be the Captain from Georgetown and Joe Haley from Ruskine. Their political gravee are now being dug, and on the 21st they will be laid away to rest forever.

He was the first and only aspirant that could be found after more than a week’s seaach, and he was eagerly taken up.

The indignation of the people against this corrupt Government is getting #0 thoreughly aroused that hundreds of their former supporters are leaving them and will join the government soon to be lead by the Hon. Daniel Gorgon. Then corruption will beat an end. Then votsrs will not need to he purchased by fat jobs on the road and by hundreds of other corrupt acts.
