The 25th Anniversary of the Mayiield women's Institute was held in the hall with a. large attend- ance of former members, regular members and the men folk.

The Hall was decorated with spring flowers. The seats were plac- ed ln a semicircle, giving a friendly atmosphere. The table was centered with a four layer Birthday cake.

The President, Mrs. Blair Am-1. rew presided. and welcomed the former members. Meeting opened with the singing of, "0 Canada." Mrs. James Houston, who was ap- pointed Organist 25 years ago play- ed for the ode. followed by repeat- ing "The Club Women's creed." Mrs. W. Nicholson. the, first secretary, read the minutes of the first meet- ing. Miss Marguerite Houston, gave a splendid report of the work ac- Complished in the past 25 years. in which she gave credit to Mrs. Blair Andrew for her untirlng efforts on behalf of the I titute work. Roll call of the char er members was called and responded to by them.

A speech by Miss Martha Brown was enjoyed by all. A sing song :01. lowed With Mrs. George Dickleson as accompanist.

A short regular meeting was car- ried out. Minutes of previous meet- ing were read and approved.

Mrs. wariield Orr invited the members for July meeting. Mrs. w, MacDonald on the lunch committee. Viflety Pfozram followed, solos WEN! 5lm8.by Doris and Nellie And- rew. Readings, Mrs. Earnest Mac- Lure and Mrs. W. MacDonald, after which a game of fish pond was con- ducted. Mr. Anthony Kllecezewski 5- Young Polish man who recently arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M1110? Orr. was introduced to the guests by Mr. Wm. Andrew.

Mrs. Andrew lit the 25 candles on the Blrlhdiill cake which were blown out by the former members. A bounteous lunch topped off with ice cream and Birthday cake was served.

Mr. George Dickleson tendered a vote of thanks to the monibers, Meeting closed with the National Anthem.

-The June meeting of Birch Grove Women's Institute met at the home of Mrs. Hubert McNeil witl1 the president, Mrs. Truman Paynter presiding. The meeting opened with the Institute Ode and the Creed repeated in unison.

The school committee, Mrs. Cecil Paynter and Mrs. Eric Toy-J lor, and the visiting committee, Mrs. Ralph Burns and Mrs. Brew- er Auld gave their reports and were again appointed ior another term.

The committee gave a report on the purchase and installing of the new stage curtain in the hall, and the ways used in raising funds for that purpose. New business in- cluded plans for new stage set- ting for the hall and Mrs. A. Scales, Mrs. R. R. Burns and Mrs.l Austin Rogers were appointed committee in charge. i

Plans were also made for at- tending and taking part in the district convention to be held in Bedeque. Canvassei-s were ap-. pointed for the drive.

The programme consisted of a reading by Mrs. George Jardinc entitled. "What to do in an elec- tric storm". A reading. "A Huge success", and a contest, "Differ- ent Kinds of Cats" were arranged by Mrs. Jardine.

A treat is to be given to the children at the closing of the school term. One new member enrolled.

The meeting closed with the National Anthem, after which a delicious lunch was sewed by the hostess assisted by committee.

The June meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Earle Skeffing- ton. Fifteen members were present, and four visitors.

Opening exercises were as usual, There were no sick calls during the month and Miss Doyle re. ported nothing needed for the school. It was decided to provide the annual treat of ice-cream for "'0 531001 Dicnic, also first and second prize for attendance.

After some discussion regarding the Red shield appeal, it was de- cided that donations be passed in to Mrs. Fenton McLure as soon as possible.

The directors reported the North Wiltshire players were expected the following week. This play has since been presented and much enjoyed by all. Lunches and drinks were sold and two premium blank- ets were auctioned, and a goodly sum realized.

Two delegates were appointed to attend the annual convention. The remainder of the business period was spent in making final plans for entertaining the district con- vention. Collection 34.85.

Lunch was served by the hostess and committee. Mrs. George Show invited the meeting for July. Roll call. is to be answered by "Add A line to make a rhyme". Meeting closed with the National Anthem.

The June meeting of Parkdale Women's Institute was held in the hall with the president, Mrs. J.R. Compton presiding. Eighteen members answered the roll call.
