The Census Returns. Ortawa, May 19
In the House of Commons yesterday it was agreed that Parliament should adjourn from Friday until the following Wednes- day.
The census bulletin number 9, dealing with the religions of the people, was issued to-day. The total increase of the popula- tion accounted for in the statement of reli- gious denominations is 475.701. Of this increase, 198458 was among Roman Catholics; 104488 Methodists; 79,034 Presbyterians; 66,092 Church of England; 17,629 Lutherans ;|7,224 Baptists; and 2,151 others.
The returns from Oatario show that the Methodists have grown most withthe Roman |} Oatholics, Presbyterians and Episcopalians | in the order named. The Catholic Church has incroased by 121,251. In Quebec the Ep'scopal Church has increased by 6,118, Presbyterians by 2,314, and Methodists by 417.

The Episcopsl Church has decreased in New Brunswick and Prince Edward island, but has remarkably increased in British Cvulumbia.

Atianta, Ga., May 19. Porter Stock, nephew of the Rev. Sam. P. Jones, the noted revivalist, was found guil y of murder yesterday. He will be sentenced to death.
