FAREWELL GATHERING — A number of his friends gathered at the home of Mr. Everett Dixon, stanchel. on Wednesday, July 3rd. to bid him farewell on the eve of his departure to the U.S.A. Mr. Dixon left Thursday morning to join his father in New York. His many friends wish him success in his new domicile. ‘

VISITING PROVINCE-Mr. W. T. Macoun, Dominion Horticulturist. spent the week-endat the Experi- mental ‘station, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Clark. Mr. Macoun, who had an enjoyable "motor drive through parts~of the_ Province, re- marked on the very rapid growth ‘and the splendid appearance of ‘the crops.

FROM CALIF0RNIA7DrM and Mrs. Judson P‘. Clark, of Riverside, California, are in the Province for a brief visit. They are at present with their brother, Mr. J.A. Clark. at the Experimental Farm. Dr. Clark is now growing avacado. pears in South Carolina. It is his first visit to the Province in seven years.

Th'e death occurred at Canoe Cove, P.E.I., on June 8th, of Chester R. MacDonald, son of Mr. and Mrs, James MacDonald. After two years of illness he was called to his Heav- enly home. He was very bright and his death in the home has been deeply felt. He leaves to mourn tbe- aldes his aorrowing parents, three brothers and three sisters.

The funeral service wasconducted by Rev. W.R. MacWalker. Inter- ment Long Creek Cemetery. The pall bearers were, Malcolm McEach- ern. Garfield McEachern. Neil Dar- rah. Charley McDougall.

The services were held in the church. which was filled to overflowing, and at the grave by Ven, Archdeacon White. A most im- pressive feature of the funeral ser- vice in the church was the adminis- tration 'by Ven. Archdeacon White. assisted by His Lordship Bishop I-Iac. Kenley. of the Requiem Salvation. After a protracted and painful ill- ness borne with remarkable faitlr‘ and fortitude Mrs. D. M. Robinson passed away at her late residence. South Wlnsloe, on the evening of‘ the 25th instant, at the age of 44 years. She is survived by her husband‘ and two young children, Beth and Dean; by .her mother, Mrs. John Boundy, of Wlnsloe, one sister, Ethel, ' the wife of Rev. Railways resid- ing at Hunter River, were the vic- tims of a sad drowning accidentbn Saturday .afternoon"when‘ a lflat- bottomed boat from which they were fishing at Campbell's Mills, {New ‘Glasgovw ‘capsihéd. The sad occur- rence took place shortly after 5.30. p. m. It was witnessed by Mr. Pres- ton Campbell, the proprietor of the mills, who, however,_was unable to aid the striken men in time. The‘ late Mr. Watts who formerly resided ‘at Hampshire was a section foreman of the Railway and is sur- vived by a widow and seven children, one of whom is Mrs. Bruce Josey of Charlottetown. Another daughter 1s at present spending her vacation home from Montreal. The deceased was 5i years of age. I

Mr. Matthews also an employee of the Railway and a returned soldier, was 38 years of age leaves a widow and five young children. Both men were widely known and esteemed throughout the community, and their sad death comes as a great shock to many friends and acquaint- ances. To the bereaved relatives, the sympathy of the entire Province will be extended.‘

UP.-The Boy scouts Camp, the first ever ‘held here, broke up _on Monday afternoon, after eight days under canvas. It proved to. be most successful and educative, and much praise is due to Scoutmastor Parent and Assistant Scoutmaster Burns for the admirable-manner in‘ which they organized and carried through the work of the Camp. The boys never had a dull or idle moment from morning till night, and are loud in their commendation of the thorough enjoyment provided by Camp Life under Boy Scout disci- pline and organization. Seventeen all told were registered at Carnp irr- cluding the Scoutmaster and his assistant, a very . representative number considering that, the Scout movement is in‘ but its infancy here. The site of the camp. the McMillan Farm, Fairview, proved so satisfac- tory and suitable for the-purpose that an option has‘ been obtained on it for next year. ‘ '
