In the valley of Anwhusc, at the time I write, are four lakes — Xaltocan, Cha co, Xochichalco and T:zcuco. The latter, besides veing the largest, washed the walls of Tonoc- htitian, and was the esp cial pride of the Aztecs, who, famisiar wich its ways as with the city, traveised them all the days of the year. and even the nights.

SATURN

is morning star. He reaches his quadra- ture on the western sile of the sun on, the lith at 6 h. P.M. He then rises belure midnight, and may be found in the north- east, a star of the color of pale gold, shiti- ing with a serene light. Saturn rses on the Ist at 11 h. 37 m. P. M. On the 30th, he rises at 9h. 33m. P. M. Uis diameter von the Ist is 6".8, aud he is in the constel- lation Leo.

MERCURY. is morning star. He reaches his greatest elong ition or most distant point from. the sun on the west on the 17th, and will then be visible to the naked eye as murning star,

about an hour and # half before the sun. Mercury rises or the Ist at 6h. 16m. A, M. On the 30:h, he rises at 5 h. 53.n. A. M. His diameter on the Lst is 9’.6, aud he is in the constellation Virgo. VENUS. is evening star, aod 1s tair to see as she ap- proaches the earth, travelling e.stward from the sun. The observer will recuznize her at a glance in the suuthwest svon after sunset, about 8° south of the sunset point, She sets on the Ist about an hour and a quarter liter than the sun. An interesting event marks her progress. She is in cun- junction with Jupiter on the first at 4h. 18m. p. un, being 1° 27° south. Both planets make a briliint appearance in the constellation Scorpic, which is increased by the bright stars in the vicinity. Venus sets on the Istat 6a. Lllm. p.m. On the 30th she sets at 6h. 45.0. p. m. Her dia- meter on the Ist is 12”.2, and she is in the constellation Scorpio. JUPITER

Venus, Jupiter, Mars, sud Neptune are evening stars at the close of the inenth, Saturn, Mercury and Uranus are morning stars.
