The"Mike Quatro Jam Band", from Detroit, has been sig- ned by the Winter Carnival Committee to appear at the Confederation Center (of the Arts?!) in conjunction with the UPEI Winter Carn- ival '7#. Who is”Mike Qua— tro?”F0r that matter, what .is "Mike Quatro”?

To answer the question on the identity of M. Quatro; he happens to be one of the most incredible studio mu- cisians of our time. The now famous Todd Rundgren owes much of his technical abilities to the eXper- imenting of Quatro, and if that doesn't confirm his genius, Mr. Quatro has worked with the music - master Stevie Wonder since 1972.

His musical repitoire in- cludes the classical, the cosmic and solid rock in- terwoven into a very tas- ty modern music delight.

If one wishes to have a comparison with a more pop-

* ular music group, the "King Crimson" band would prob- ably fit the bill.

I first encountered Quatro in 1969 in Antigonish N.S.. whilst attending the not-

orious X - factory. From an album entitled "Paintings", which was produced\and arr- anged by Quatro, a whole new dimension in "rock" music unfolded before me. The my- sterious Arp - Moog “synthe- sound" was utilized exten- sively in creating a sphere of music that was so intense and so amazing, that I lis- tened to the album for more than two hours that night, and have since listened to it regularly.

At any rate, I strongly reccommend-that all per-. sons with a taste for rock should make a point to be in attendance when "The Mike Quatro Jam Band" app- ears before, and amazes the Charlottetown audience.

I would also like to con- gratulate Bill Macintyre and the rest of the Carnival Committee for signing such top notch entertainment.

God knows how starved we are in this area for live mod- ern music concerts.
