Farm Prices Anti Markets

In the seventy-two hour period previous to January 30th, Prince Edvard Island shipped to Canad- ian points thirteen carloacls of p0- tatocs. During the same time New Bnmswlck shipped sixty-eight. cars, reports Mr. W. R. Shaw, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, 111 the De- partment's weekly review of mar- kcting conditions. To United States points by rail and ivater Prince E11- ward Island shipped forty cars and New Brunswick two hundred and eleven. "Our neighbouring Prov- ince", Mr. Show said, “is certain- ly pouring potatoes on to the mar- ket. and undoubtedly this rapid exodus has something to do with our weakening price level."

The price of Mountains, Katah- dlns, and Scbogocs, is at. present from 5te-60e per bushel. Cobblers are higher at about 70c-72c, while No. 2 Katahdlns and Sebagoes are around 75c per bushel st. the ear. Tableswck is around 5011-550 pcr bag.

There is no report lately regard- ing support price on potatoes. This matter has been followed up but will be pressed still further at the 1701.110 meeting of the Horticult- ural Council to be held shortly, At. the present time Faiconwood Farm are boiling from 15-25 bushels of potatoes dally for hogs and have cut. down the cost of production by this utilization. The farmer's boiler can be built; at a. vbry 101v price and the cost. of operating one cf these boilers is very small.

Livestock

The livestock situation is about the same as last week. All prices at Mencton are teady, and this is so at. Chariot etown with the exception of cattle which went: up slightly. The following are the de- tails: '

Turnips

The turnip market, contrary to expectations, has weakened slight- ly and the price is now 60c per bushel.’ Ontario table tumips urc now pretty wvoii cleaned up and with cooler weather and diminish- ing supplies the market should again develop stronger tendencies. Primnce Edward Island has s11 e;- timsted 400 to 500 more carlcads of turnips to ship. 1t. is becoming ineroaslxmgiy difficult. as supplies diminish. to meet the grade re- quirements. A lot of turnips des- tined for the tsblestock market will be fed as livestock iced because they lack quality and size. and they are not smooth and free from injury.

Eggs and Poultry

Last week a floor price under eggs was announced amounting to 38c at the end oi the year out. of storage plus all costs incidental to storage. This would mean that any dealer who required to store eggs would receive this amount per dozen for Grade Al‘... The an- ouncement of the floor price brought ,on'immediate change in
