, The FAA is the federal and provincial arrangement that dictates the distribu-

tion of federal funds to the

provinces. This is money that is invested in education, health and social services. The federal government is planning to cut back on its contribution to the- provinces and, therefore, these services will be affected.

"The National Union of Students sees this year as vital to the students of Canada and is working to prevent the cutbacks in the federal programmes. It is especially important that Atlantic students get involved in working against the federal proe posals since they are the ones that will be most 'affected," said Figueroa.

Even though they left us out of the Orientation Handbook, The Cadre does _exist and is open to all members of the university. There are a few salaried positions open to students and several satisfying jobs offering good journalistic experience.

This year we will be putting The Cadre out Thursday, with a weekly staff meeting Friday, -most stories written up over the weekend and lay— ‘out scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.
