Tlicre entered into ctcrlial rest at the Prince Edward island Hos- pital on January 19th. Hector ll. Gillis, after an illness of only three weeks. Hlss death came as a severe shock to his family and ll'lNl(IS.

He uas born in Melville. in lll77. son of the late Murdock Gillis and Margaret tMac'i'avisbl Gil- lis. He lived his entire life in Mel- ville. except for a few years spent in New York.

He was of a quiet mature and

a great lover of home. his kind- lilless won for him the high est- eem of all who knew him. He loved to work with and around llorses and his good horseman- sblp will long be remembered. . Alert both physically and ment- ally to the end, he will be sore- ly missed by his friends and neighbors but especially by the members of his own family. who will always remember his innate goodness and ready help at any time.

Except for the last few years.- hs was a regular attendant of St. John's Church. Belfast, where he loved to worship.

He is lovingly remembered by his family namely: Preston, at home. Margaret (Mrs. Elmer Ling. Amherst. N. S); Flora, Mrs. Ern- est Morrison, Belle River! and seven grandchildren of whom he was very fond.

His wife. the former. Macwilliams. predeceased four years ago.

He also leaves to mourn his passing. three sisters. Belle of Charlottetown. Tenn (Mrs. Lem Compton, Pinette) and Etta of Charlottetown. One brother. John William predeceased him twelve years ago. The funeral service, which was very largely attended. was held from the home on Janu- ary l2th. Service was conducted by Rev. E. C. Evnns.'Hymns sung were "The Lord is My Shepherd." "Asleep In Jesus" and the Belfast Quartette, sung by apecial request. ”In The Sweet Bye and Eye."

The pallbearers were John A. MacRac. Campbell MacLeod. Jack Gilliil. Duncan MacTavish, Colin MlicKenzie. and John Mat-Kenzle.
