Program: APRIL 6 MEETING. The results of the Natural History Society's nature slide competition will be announced, prizes awarded, and all the entries shown. Wendall MacKay is expected to be master of ceremonies, however, should he be unavailable, the mantle will fall on the capable shoulders of his assistant Eleanor Lowe. So--all signals are GO for the slide competi- tion.

Rosemary Curley will show slides of the eight species of birds that qualified for public vote in the Provincial Bird Competition. She will read the notes that are to be pub— lished for public guidance.

Margaret Mallett will show a series of 20 slides of the nighthawks written about in the story "The Years of the Nighthawk" in this issue of the Newsletter.

NATURE ARTICLES OR ANECDOTES. Come on, readers, get your feet wet!

If you see or hear about something that is interesting to you, it will be interesting to other people. Just start writing, and first thing you know, your talent will be showing! Masterpieces are not required; if necessary the editor will polish up your story.

"OWL," the Canadian Outdoor and Wildlife Magazine for children is a charming new publication replacing "The Young Naturalist." It has articles, pictures, cartoons, contests, and puzzles so interesting that anyone will learn a lot about nature. It is to be published ten times a year at $6.00 for a single subscription, less for club sub— scriptions. NEWS

The "Mount Herbert" Kingfisher came through the winter again this year. On March 8 he was observed upstream from Highway 21; his dead tree downstream appears to have fallen down.
