Mr. George A. Koome, of Montreal, is registered at the Hotel Davies. Mr. Roome 18 doing the province in the interests of a well-ksowa Montreal house. His many friends are glad to see him.

Mr. McCready, of the Guardian, return- ed to Charloutetowo from St. John on Saturday nigut. Mrs. McCready will not be home for a few weeks, having goue to visit her sister in Maine.

Tue Sun announces the death in St. John city,on Wednesday, of Mrs. Elizabeth Bailey, widow of W. S. Bailey, of that city. Mrs. Bailey, the Sun says, was the mother of Mrs. T. A. Stewart and Mrs. Peter Stewart, of Charlottetown.

Mr. Aaron Colle:t, of Crapaud, was in town to-day making arrangements for a trip to England, which he bas not seen since he left there fitty-tour years ago. We wish our old friend a pleasant voyage aod a safe return in the spring.

Miss Aimee Cecil Jones, of Windsor, Nova Scotia, is in this city making arrange- ments fora Delsarte entertainment and Kermess .o be given in December. Mise Jones comes highly recommended as an elocutionist of exceptional ability.

The Minister of Agriculture aud Pro- fessor Saunders went to Kensington to-day and held a meeting there this afternoon. They will return to Charlottetown this evening and speak in the Opera House to- merrow afternoon a two o’clock, Remem- ber the hour~—-two o’clock in the afternoon.

The Moncton correspondent of the St. John Telegraph says: Miss Annie Mont-~ gomery, of Princetown, P. E. Island, was in the city to-day en route to her former field of missionary labor in Persia. This lady has been visiting home after an ab- sence ot 14 years and thinks this probably her farewell visit. Miss Montgomery was a pupil of Neil McDougall, late deceased, of this place 30 years ago, Ske s-nt a telegram for his family to meet her here, which they did Miss Montgomery is a niece of the late Senator Montgomery.

The speeches were a happy blending of the humorous and pra:tical. Our honored President also gave an address on the great advances made along all Jines during the last half century, noting the great step from the reaping hook to the self bioder, and from the flail to the thresher and separator, showing that the conditions of life for the farmer of to-day were much easier and better than fifty years ago. James Bristow, the gold medaliet and first-prize cheese maker was present with us from Emerald, and helped along with the entertainment.

The piano music aud songs by Mre, G W. Bell, and the Scotch songs by W. D. Whitehead, E-q., were highly appre- ciated, and did much to enliven the proe ceedings.

Mr. Biffin has, we understand, been engaged by the Directors to manage the factory next season.

In the “small wee bours ayant the twal ” the meeting dispersed, well pleased that they had met to do honor to a warthy representative of the great and ever~ increasing dairy industry.
