The Prince Edward Island Medical Act, 1899.

N pursuance of the provisions of the above cited Act, the first election of the Medical Council of Prince Edward Island will take effect on MONDAY, June 30th, next. Atten- tion is called to the following extracts from the Act relating to this election :—

The persons entitled to vote at the election of members for said Medical Council suall be— —

3. The persons who have registered under the

provisions of the Acts passed in the 34th year of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, Chap- tec T'wenty-five, ictituled “An Act relating to Physicians and Surgeons”; also, the Act passed April 21st, 1874, intituled “An Act to amend an \ct relating to Physicians and Surgeons”; also the persons who atthe ume of the passing of this Act shall possess diplomas or licenses to practice from any accredited coliege or schoo] of medicine in ‘‘anada, United States or Kurope; provided that all persons not registered a3 aforesaid shail be requtred before so voting to file a memorau- dum of their names, places of residence and practice, with the post oflice address, also the name of the college and date of diploma with the President of the Prince Edward Island Medical Association, within two months after the passing of this Act, and shall pay to the President a fee of five dollars. to be by him aporepriated to the funds of the Prince Kdward Island Medical Association, also ail persons who afier the pass- ing of this Act may possess diplomas or licenses Lo practice registered in this province.

4. No person shall be elugible tobe elected a member of the said Council unless he be regis- tered in pursuance of the said Acts 1871, or 1874, or in pursuance of this Act.

5. ‘ihe number of persons to be elected as mem- bers forming said Council shall be seven.

6. The charge and conduct of the first election shall be under the management of the President of the Prince Edward Isiand Medical Associati.n. 7. ‘I'be first election shall take place on the last Monday in the month of June, 1890, in the City of Charlottetown. ‘Tbe persons elec’ed shall hold oftice until the next election, and until their suc- eessors be elected, aud shali be eligible for re- election.

8. Kvery person entitled to vote may vote for seven persons, and auy one not wishing to be a candigate may notify each voter to that effect

9. Such votes shall be given by closed voting papers in the form inthe first Schedule to this Act. or to the like effect, signed by the yoter and delivered as to the first election to the said Pre- sidcent of the Prince Edward Island Medical As- sociation, on apy day inthe month of Juve. 19, preceding the day of election. Any voting paper delivered to the said President of tne Prince od- ward Island Medical Association by registered letter, during the respective times aforesaid, shall be deemed delivered te him.

10. The said President of Prince Edward Island Medical Association shall, on the Tuesday follow- ing the day of the first el.ction, atthe bour of twelve o’clock, neon. at bis office, and in the pre- sence of such persops 3 are registered or en- litled to be registered under an Adt to amend an Act relating to Physicians and Surgeons, passed in the years 187: and 18)4, in Prince Edward Island, or in pursuanve of this Act as choose to atiend, seruiioize and count the votes, and keep a record thereof,

12. The seven persons who have the highest number of votes at any election, shall be the members of the Council for the ensuing three years, and until their successors are elected.

15. Noverson shall be eligible for election un- less qualified to vote at such election, and any votes cast for any person who is ineligibie to be electod-a member shall be null and void, and the election shall be declared as if such votes had not been cast. “an ‘

25. Kvery person who is now registered under the vrrovisions of the Act 1871 and 184, shall be entitled to be regis'ered under thie Act without payment of the required fee therefor.

All who desire to secure the right to vote at this election must comply with the require- ments jof Sec. 3 of the Act without delay. This may be effected by registered letter, cou- taining the required memorandum and fee, and forwarded by mail to my address. Voting papers ip printed form will be furnished to all who are registered in due time.
