Miss Helen Roach sang a mezzo soprano solo, "The Enchantment," and she returned to sing with Mr. Ralph Raynor in a duet entitled, most rippropriiitely, "Spring".

In the Scottish dancing and music classes, there were several selections, all most enjoyable. Mr. Frank Burke, who won high praise for his appearance in festival com- petition, played the bagpipes. and George MacDonald of Tracadic Cross was heard singing "The Road to the Isles". Miss Norma Duvnr danced the Highland Fling, and Group 1 of the Charlottetown Highlanders gave a repeat per- formance of the Scottish country dance for which they received warm commendation from Major Calum Macbeod.

Rhythm bands from Rochford Square School and Parkdale School demonstrated enjoyably this form of musical exercise, and wiitzicrs of one of the newer classes in the festival, that of choral reading, were represented by groups from the AIM Johnson School at Bum- mersids and Rochford Square School.

Also performers of solos were Mr. Frank Maclntyre of Char- lottelown. singing "Shlpmates of Mlne". Miss Mary Morrison of Charlottetown who sang "To Mu- sic". and Mr. Stanley Lancaster and Mrs. Ralph Burdett who were winners in the operatic solo class.

Among the instrumental num- bers were a trombone solo by Mr. Roddie I-Iickox, and a. trumpet solo by Mr. Norman Stewart. as well as a fine rendition of Bach's Two Part Invention, No. 8 in E, by Mr. Herbert Crockett of Summerside.

Two outstanding women's chor- uses were heard, the Seaside Sing- ers of Cherry Valley, in "Silver and Gold", and the Central Roy- alty Women's Chorus, who sang very sweetly "0 Lovely Night". School choruses from Parkdale School and School Unit. Number 1 were also included in the program, as were the Central Royalty Men's Chorus. who presented a lively selection. "Sing Me A Charity With A Yo Heave Ho," and the Hills- boro Chorale, with "Brother James' Air".

Among the highlights of the evening were the performances by the "Four Tons of Harmony", a very fine Charlottetown Quartet, and a women's trio composed of the Misses Marilyn and Barbara Rupert and Miss Nancy MacNevin, whose rendition of All Through The Night" delighted the audien- ces. Elizabeth Brookins and Myrna Cousins of Kcnsingtun presented as a vocal duct "The Spendthrift Spring". Miss Laurdrene Wood sang "First Spring Mornlng." re- ceiving warm applause.

Another feature of the festival which has just recently been in- troduced is the folk and square dancing classes. and some of the enjoyment of both audience and competitors when these classes

Death Wednesday Of Mrs. Joseph Buoto

-The death occurred on Wed- nesday morning, May 6th at the home of her brother, Mr. Ben Pet- ers. St. Roch. of Mrs. Joseph Buote. formerlyi Philemone Peters, in her 85th year. The deceased, who had been in failing health for the past. nve years, had been ten- derly cared for by her rela'.ves. Her husband predeceased her sev- eral yeara ago.

The funeral services were held Friday morning. May 9th at 9 o'- clock,with Requiem High Mass at St. -Simon and st. Jude Church, Tignish. by Rev. J. A. MacDonald.
