Buyers who are likely to require a supply before April would do well to suprly themselves with it without delay. The smaller sizes of tins, one pound and two pounds each, are the scarcest; in fact it is doubtful if any can be had here. An important decision has been reach- ed by the Government, which is destined to have a far-reaching influence on the Mar- itime Provinces, ‘It has been decided to accede to the request of the Maritime Board of Trade, net t» subsidize here- after avy steamship line which makes its terminal port on this side of the Atlautic at a United States’ port. The result will be that when the present mui] contracts with the Allan and Dominion Lines ex- pires, it can only be renewed on condition that the steamship companies make their terminus at a Canadian port, whether in winter or summer.
