You do not have to be an expert to know how to do taxes, as Revenue Canada trains hun- dreds of people across Canada to complete tax returns every year under the Community Vol- unteer Income Tax Program. This program was designed to assist concerned Canadians in learning how to properly complete their re- turns each year, as well as aresource for those organizations that aim at helping other Cana- dians.

If you would like to expand your hori- zons and explore strange new worlds in know- ing how to complete your tax return, or helping others complete theirs, you are invited to participate with the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program. :

Revenue Canada will put on a free training session for those interested on Friday, March 10, 1995, starting at 1:30 pm. There is no obligation and this opportunity is an excel- lent way to become familiar with the taxation process first-hand. On Saturday, March 11, 1995, starting at 9 am, there will be a Tax Help Session for those students and the public who wish to have their tax returns completed by us or to have any tax questions answered.

I would encourage anyone interested to attend the training session to check out this worthwhile course to present any questions that you may have, from the GST returns to Student Loans deductions.

(NAPS)—Picture this: you or your youngster is a winner in a photo contest that not only provides you the opportunity to exhibit your work internationally but also gets you the satisfaction of knowing you're part, of the solution when it comes to pro- tecting our planet.

You can put yourself in that pretty picture if you enter the “Focus On Your World” International Photo- graphic Competition on the Environ- ment 1994-1995. It was launched by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in cooperation with Canon, Inc.

The competition is open to pro- fessional, amateur and child pho- tographers from around the world. Entrants are asked to submit photos that depict the beauty of our earth as well as those which encourage improvements in controlling pollu- tion and alleviating the destruction of our natural resources.

Dr. Noel Brown, regional direc- tor of UNEP, North America, explains, “You can show anything you think reflects either the posi- tive or negative issues of the envi- ronment, just make sure it’s a strong, well-focused image that catches the eye immediately. Every- thing you need to know is in the entry form.”

Gold prize winners in the pro- fessional, amateur and children’s divisions will receive $20,000, $10,000 and $1,000 respectively. All top prize winners, including spe- cial prize winners, will be flown to the UN headquarters in New York for an awards ceremony, and their winning photos will be exhibited in various locations around the world.
